Studies
He studied at the University of Michigan from 1924 to 1925 , and graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) in 1931 .
Career
From 1926 to 1927 , he worked at Abell, the architecture firm of Joseph J. Kucera in Pasadera and between 1927 and 1928 with architect C. Hosmer Clara in Sarasota , Florida , before settling in Southern California , where he lived and worked on rest of his life.
From 1930 to 1942 he was chief opinion officer, designer, and architectural supervisor at Marsh, Smith, and Powell, Architects, in Los Angeles .
In 1944 he became independent, sometimes working as an associate with the architect Sumner Spaulding and with Adrian Wilson .
He was a professor of interior design at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles from 1950 to 1952 and was a visiting critic at USC from 1953 to 1961 and from 1963 to 1965 .
From 1953 to 1965 he was Visiting Professor at the University of Southern California. From 1963 .
In 1964 he was appointed an honorary member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

He received many awards throughout his career, including the aforementioned American Institute of Architects (AIA) Southern California Chapter of 1954 for the design of his own office building.
