Stock ROM . Stock Rom is the name given to the software incorporated at the factory in electronic equipment, be it a smartphone, tablet, video game console or others. The word “Stock” comes from the English which means “assortment”. While, ROM (Read Only Memory) is a reserved area in memory where the user cannot modify the data stored inside it, only read (read-only) and it is usually where the startup software and / or the operating system in many electronic equipment. A ROM (Read Only Memory) is the operating system together with other files that allow the Android to start. Android is thus one of the parts of a ROM.
Along with the operating system there is the kernel , or nucleus, which would be in charge of communicating to the software and hardware so that they work in harmony. The kernel used by Android devices is Linux which, thanks to being free software, has been able to be ported to all kinds of mobile devices. In the case of phones, some manufacturers include pure Android with slight modifications, as is the case with Motorola ; others instead create forks or Android modificationsas can be the case of Xiaomi with MIUI or Samsung with Touchwiz in their terminals. Inside a ROM is also the graphical user interface, known as GUI, which allows the user to interact with the system, as well as other files that help the phone to be used properly, including its connections (data, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, etc.).
On the other hand, there are the Custom roms . As its name suggests, a Custom ROM is a modification of another ROM, that is, a custom ROM. Most often, developers are based on the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) code, and work on this basis, known as Pure Android, to develop the modifications.
