Risk of rain 2 Mithrix | How to beat the final boss

Risk of Rain 2 update 1.0 finally gave the game a fitting conclusion. As part of the deal, players can now also face the new final boss. His name is Mithrix, King of Nothing, and he won’t come out without a fight. This is a tough battle, so if you want to know how to beat Mithrix, we have some tips for you.

Risk of rain 2 | How to beat Mithrix, King of Nothing

You would expect the final boss of Risk of Rain 2 to be challenging, and Mithrix doesn’t disappoint. He’s fast, he’s agile, and can kill weaker characters in just one or two hits. The best way to beat him is to carry items that boost damage, increase speed, and apply status effects.

The battle with the King of Nothing includes four separate rounds. During the first round, he will simply attack you with his hammer. Most of the time it will rush towards you and swing in a downward ark, so move to the side. Occasionally, it disappears from view before landing in the center of the arena. This causes a shock wave to spread centrifugally, so be prepared to jump.

Once you’ve dealt enough damage, Mithrix will disappear. Round two sees you fighting an ever-growing series of Lunar Chimera. Hope you got some practice at the beginning of the level. Eliminate them constantly and eventually Mithrix will reappear.

In the third round, you will have to fight both Mithrix and the Lunar Chimera. This is where the fight is most challenging, as Mithrix will move faster and you will catch fire from all sides. Additionally, Mithrix will utilize a new attack that sends malicious vertical waves across the arena. While the attack is charging, anticipate which direction the waves will turn, then skirt accordingly. Keep cutting at Mithrix, engaging the Chimera only when needed.

When Mithrix’s health bar is depleted, the final round will begin. Mithrix will be wounded and, desperate to win the fight, will take all your items. Don’t panic – keep attacking. As you damage Mithrix more, your items will be returned to you in groups. As long as you can survive for about ten seconds, you should recover enough of your items to deal a killing blow.

When the fight ends, a timer will appear on the screen. You only have a few minutes to run back to the drop ship at the start of the level. Assuming you go back in time, the game will end and you will be treated to the best ending in Risk of Rain 2.

What items do you need to beat Mithrix

The two biggest benefits of Mithrix are speed and health. Therefore, you want to carry items that slow it down and deal high damage. Here’s a look at the best items you can use to beat him.

57 Leaf Clover

The 57 Leaf Clover is the go-to item for any build that focuses on effects that aren’t guaranteed to hit. It won’t replace the items described below, but it will give you more chances to apply their effects on hit.

Runald’s Band

Runald’s Band has an 8% chance to deal 250% damage (+ $ 125 per stack) and slow an enemy by 80%. It also has a nice synergy with Kjaro’s Band, as mentioned below.

Kjaro’s Band

Kjaro’s gang doesn’t slow down the final boss, but it does a lot of damage – 500% + 250% per stack. Additionally, it activates whenever Runald’s Gang does, allowing you to catch slowed down enemies in the path of the runic tornado. These two bands together constitute one of the best offenses against Mithrix.

Chronobauble

Just a couple of Chronobauble should be enough to keep the King of Nothing slowed down for the entire fight. Get one or two when you can.

Piercing shots

While these aren’t usually important outside of eliminating teleportation events, piercing hits make a huge difference when fighting the game’s final boss. We recommend that you take two or three.

Three-pointed dagger

The 1.0 update version of Risk of Rain 2 has changed the way the bleeding effect accumulates. Three-pointed daggers are now much more effective at dealing damage over time, especially when paired with the 57 Leaf Clover.

You shouldn’t have too much trouble beating Mithrix after learning its patterns. Your overall build will depend on the Survivor you choose, but you’ll still want to carry items with slow effects and a high amount of damage.
