History

Poker was born in the 10th century BC. of C. in Persia , where a card game called ace was practiced. This consisted of forming pairs, trios and ladders of the same suit.

Texas Hold´em is one of the most played poker styles at the moment, mainly in Casinos, which is based on playing with two of your own cards plus the 5 community ones, making the 7 total cards a hand of 5; The one with the highest hand wins.

The invention of poker chips arises from the need for better maneuverability at the table, since they replace the coins or banknotes of bets, they are an essential part of a poker tournament; the shape of the tiles allows them to be stacked, and being of different colors they are easily recognizable and therefore easier to count than banknotes and coins. In general, the different types of poker chips can be grouped into two basic groups: plastic chips and ceramic chips.

Measurements and design

The lightweight plastic chips weigh between 2 and 4 grams each and the standard colors are red, white, and blue. They are usually smaller than casino chips.

Composite and ceramic tiles usually weigh 9-13 grams each, but there is no official weight. However, some of those with the metal insert inside may weigh more. The chips used in casinos normally weigh between 11 and 12 grams, but the ones sold for domestic use can vary substantially in weight, even reaching up to 13.5 grams depending on the manufacturer and type of manufacture. Usually the heavier, more expensive and more desirable, as they provide a better acoustic and tactile experience when hitting each other.

Colors and their value

The typical colors of tile sets are red, white, blue, and sometimes green and black. However, a wide assortment of colors have recently started to appear, among which the most common are pink, lilac, yellow, orange and gray.

There are no official rules for determining the color and denomination of poker chips. Each casino or private tournament can use its own colors. However, there are some standard denominations that are used by most people.
