José Ramón Linares Ferrera (Cuba, 1940 ) was a Cuban architect. [1] President of the Cuban Committee of the International Council on Monuments (ICOM).

Trajectory
He was one of the initiators and main collaborators of the founding work aimed at safeguarding the nation’s heritage, under the leadership of Dr. Marta Arjona Pérez , in which he had relevant participation in the reorganization, creation and operation of the network of Cuban museums. .
Significant was his contribution to the paradigmatic work that the Office of the Historian of Havana , under the direction of Doctor Eusebio Leal , carried out in Old Havana , as well as his contribution to the training of specialists and technicians dedicated to museology and museography in Cuba and the foreigner.
He was a member of the technical advisory council of Plastic Arts of the Ministry of Culture, of the National Commission of Monuments and president of the Cuban Committee of the International Council of Monuments (ICOMOS).
Death
He passed away on July 6 , 2021 .

National Prize for Cultural Heritage 2014
Throughout his life he received more than 20 distinctions and awards, and was a model and example for his dedication to the good of the national culture.
Creditor of the National Prize for Cultural Heritage for the Work of Life 2014, in attention to its relevant and sustained contribution to the safeguarding of the nation’s heritage. The award was delivered on December 29, 2014. [2]
The award is conferred by the National Council for Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture .
The decision to award him the prize was also influenced by the scientific significance that the theoretical work of the architect Pepe Linares had at an international level. [3]
