He graduated as an architect from the Universidad de Oriente and completed his academic training in postgraduate courses related to heritage management. But without a doubt, the daily confrontation with the problems that the preservation of the old town of Santiago de Cuba supposes constitutes the major school.
In those days as a student, touring the city of Santiago de Cuba, he understood that its patrimonial charms were not so appreciated and so he decided to dedicate his life to trying to put everything in its place.

Career path
He was a university professor for a few years. There he was able to capture everything that is needed to not only know, but also transmit what heritage means. He was part of the Technical Office for the Restoration and Conservation of Monuments, the germ that allowed the City Curator’s Office to be founded.
Since 1984, he has been a member of the Provincial Monuments Commission and, since 1996, a member of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) in Cuba. Between 1985 and 1990, he was also part of the Advisory Council of the Provincial Directorate of Culture and in 1999 he was coordinator of the collaboration project with the NGO APS of Italy, for the start-up of a workshop school for young people in crafts. restoration.
He is recognized for the magnificent results obtained under his direction in Santiago de Cuba, where he has developed a tenacious work with outstanding results, particularly during the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the foundation of the town that was the first capital of Cuba.
