Do you feel like you are afraid to start something new ? Do you feel like you would like to, but do n’t know where to start ? Do you feel like you would like to, but is there something holding you back ?
We know how you feel.
This year we have done things that a few years ago we could not have imagined:
– Leave our “stable” work to dedicate ourselves to our projects
– Leave our rental apartment in Madrid
– Going to travel 6 months in the United States
Fear is always there, and it is not about not being afraid, but moving forward despite it.
It is not about not having #medo, but moving forward despite it. #undertake

What if fear was just a feeling?
Think about it, what are you afraid of?
It is probably a mixture of things: to fail, to not measure up, to repent, to the criticism of others …
This is all totally normal when you start something new, but none of it is real, it’s just feelings and thoughts in your mind.
The truth is that we have never cared much about the criticism of others and in case it helps you, we have not regretted our decision for the moment.
But since we know that it is not normally easy to make these types of decisions, we are going to give you below a series of keys that we hope will help you change your life or start something new:
- Take responsibility (be proactive)
No one is going to do it for you, you alone are responsible for your goals and your life.
Learn more about what Proactivity is and how to promote it in your day to day.
- Identify your why to stay motivated
Ask yourself why you want to do it , because that reason is going to be the engine that propels you when you have no strength, when you hesitate or when you want to throw in the towel.
Visualize yourself having achieved it.
In our case, why was freedom, having ourselves in control of our own lifestyle in order to do with our time what we really want.
- Find Information, connect and test before launching
One reason for fear of starting is often a lack of information. You don’t have to jump into the void and see what happens next.
Research, search for information and connect with people who have already obtained it. You are not the first or the last to face whatever you want to do. Start testing little by little and gain confidence with small goals.

- Visualize the worst and the best scenario
What if everything goes wrong? What is the worst that can happen? What if everything goes well? What is the best that can happen?
Visualize the worst and best case and compare them.
You probably realize that you gain more if everything goes well than you lose if it goes wrong. Even if it goes wrong, it will help you to have more experience and you will have learned many things that will help you next time.
- Visualize yourself in the future without having achieved it
It seems like a contradiction, but do it.
Visualize yourself as an old man, as you are older, and regretting the things you did not do. Surely it is the most painful there is because you can no longer go back, there is no other opportunity.
I think that visualization will serve you and give you the strength to at least try.
- Do not give it so many turns
In the end, after spinning it a thousand times, you may feel that you are at the same point and still do not decide. There comes a time that only depends on you, you have to take risks and leave behind limiting beliefs and face those fears.
Trust yourself, trust that you have enough resources to find your life and get ahead in any situation.
- Draw a Plan, Write It and Execute It
What is the end goal? Think about what you have to do. Write down each specific action you can think of to accomplish your goal.
What is the first thing I have to do? What is the next step? And later?
Surely all this will help you to act faster, to focus on what is important . Now you just have to do what you have written on the paper, go step by step and prove to yourself that you can do it.
The best thing about starting something new is that suddenly you start meeting people and you are presented with opportunities that you had not even considered before.
When you dare to do what you really want, you realize that the satisfaction of having tried in the end outweighs the initial fear.
