She was born on December 24, 1980 in the municipality of Santa Clara , Villa Clara Province , an outstanding exponent of the sport of water polo , daughter of Regla Celia and José Gustavo, her childhood was spent in a working-class family, along with her sister Major Naldrey. According to people who knew her from her childhood, she was a calm, respectful, kind and intelligent girl, with many prospects for practicing sports. In 1985 she began her primary studies in the city of Cienfuegos at the National Urban School “Guerrillero Heroico”, she was a very outstanding girl in Physical Education activities., their academic results were satisfactory.

In 1990 , when she was still 10 years old and in the fifth grade, she was recruited for the Pre EIDE “ Eduardo García Delgado ”, due to her results she went to the Provincial EIDE Jorge Agustini Villasan, integrating the women’s team that participated in the National Games. obtaining the 5th place. In 1996 she was selected for the Pre-National Selection at only 15 years old with a view to the Pan American Games in Winnipeg .
