Biographical synthesis

He was born on 17 of January of 1964 , grew up in the southern area of Chicago , in the United States . His father, Fraser Robinson , was employed at a water plant , while his mother, Marian Shields Robinson , worked as a secretary. Among his family ancestry is Jim Robinson , a slave born in South Carolina , where he still has a large part of his family . She is the sister of Craig Robinson , the coach of the Oregon State University men’s basketball team .

The Robinson family lived in the South Side of Chicago, on the top floor of a brick bungalow . Fraser worked as a pump operator for the Chicago Hydraulic Department, and although he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at a young age, he almost never missed work . Marian stayed home taking care of Craig and Michelle, taking care of their home, and filling it with joy , love, and important life lessons .

Studies

A Chicago Public School graduate , she studied Sociology and African American Studies at Princeton University . In 1988 , he received a law degree from Harvard Law School , Harvard Law School .

Political career

Upon graduating from, she began working with the Sidley & Austin law firm , where she would meet the man who would become the love of her life . It was at this university where he began to get involved in political participation , demanding actions for the university authorities to employ minority professors . She made it to the top 10 lawyers in America , even better than her husband.

In 1996 , she came to the University of Chicago with the vision and purpose of building campus- community ties . As associate dean of student services, he developed the first program of community service college, and under his leadership as vice president of community of the Medical Center and external affairs at the University of Chicago, the activities of volunteers in the campus and community increased considerably.

A few years later, she decided that her true calling was to organize and encourage people to serve their community and support their neighbors. She served as an assistant commissioner for planning and development for the mayor of Chicago, and shortly after founded the Chicago chapter of Public Allies Public Allies, an AmeriCorps program that prepares young people for public service, where she assumed the role of executive director.

She met Barack Obama at the law firm for which they both worked. In 1992 they married , and in 1998 their first daughter, Malia Ann, was born. Three years later, in 2001 , their second and last daughter, Sasha Obama, was born. Throughout 2007 and 2008 , she assisted in her husband’s presidential campaign and delivered a speech at the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

Michelle with Juliana Awada , her Argentine namesake, during a state visit in 2016 . During her first months as first lady, she visited shelters and soup kitchens. He also sent representatives to schools and advocated for public service. He defended the priorities policies of her husband, Obama by promoting projects of law supporting it. Obama held a reception at the White House for the defenders of the rights of women in celebration of the enactment of the Law Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay in 2009. According to his representatives, he intends to visit the entire United States in order to familiarize himself with Washington .

The 5 of June of 2009 , the White House announced that Michelle Obama was replacing its current chief of staff, Jackie Norris , by Susan Sher , a longtime friend and adviser. Norris became an advisor to the Corporation for National and Community Service. Other initiatives as first lady, included advocated on behalf of families of military , helping to work to women and family, encouraging national service, and promoting the arts and education artistic.

TV appearances

In 2011 , she was invited to participate in a special episode of the famous Nickelodeon series iCarly , in an episode of the fifth season called iMeet the First Lady in Spanish “I know the first lady” premiered on January 16 , 2012 commemorating her birthday one day before. She also appeared in Extreme Makeover Home Edition and the 2012 Kids Choice Awards. She also had another appearance on the American animated series “The Simpsons . ” In 2014 , he appeared in the season finale of the 6th season of Parks and Recreation . He also appeared in the children’s series “Disney ” , “ Jessie ”
