What to do in the open world of Marvel’s Spider-Man, how is the Spider pumping implemented and whether you need to climb all the towers in Manhattan

Once under the wing of the Sony publishing house , the legendary superhero still managed to find a worthy game embodiment. Marvel’s Spider-Man from Insomniac Games is – the first in the history of uncompromisingly excellent game Spider-Man: with an exciting story campaign and a giant metropolis, available for study. There is a lot of content here, so we have prepared a small guide in which we analyzed the general structure of the game.

What to do for Spider in Manhattan

Like any open-world game, Marvel’s Spider-Man offers two main types of entertainment – story missions and additional activities scattered around the city. For completing missions, the player gains experience, grows in levels and earns points for the development of Spider skills in three branches. Also, as you move through the plot, new activities appear, and the hero acquires useful gadgets.

But the structure of additional entertainment looks a little more complicated: there are many types of tasks, and the rewards for completing them vary somewhat. As their number differs in each of the nine districts of the city.

A complete list of optional activities is as follows:

  • Side quests
  • Backpacks
  • sights
  • Fisk’s Caches
  • Warehouses “Demons”
  • Prisoner camps
  • Checkpoints “Sobol”
  • Scientific stations
  • Mysteries of the Black Cat
  • Pigeons
  • Tests of the Foreman
  • Bandit Crimes
  • Demon Crimes
  • Prisoners’ crimes
  • Crimes “Sobol”
  • Security towers

Now let’s take a closer look at each of them.

Optional activities

  • Side quests

Classic side quests are modest in scale, without much staging, but with interesting gameplay ideas.

Reward : experience points.

  • Backpacks

Scattered throughout Manhattan are Parker’s forgotten backpacks with memorabilia inside. Having found them, we can learn some interesting details about the hero’s past.

Reward : experience points, a backpack token (more on them below) and unlocking a unique suit (for all 55 backpacks).

  • sights

Although Parker no longer works in the editorial office of the newspaper, he has not forgotten how to take beautiful pictures. Therefore, we have to collect an impressive album of photographs of famous architectural structures of the city. Among them, by the way, there is the Avengers Tower and the house of Doctor Strange.

Reward : experience points and attractions token.

  • Fisk, Demons, Prisoners, and Sable bases

Caches, warehouses, camps and roadblocks belonging to various bad guys are combined into one group in the game. All of them represent a multi-level arena where we have to fight off the advancing waves of opponents.

  • Scientific stations

Science stations are Harry Osborne mini-laboratories located on the rooftops of skyscrapers. In each of them we will have a rather simple task to restore the ecological environment of the city.

  • Mysteries of the Black Cat

The famous villainess has prepared a series of 12 mysteries for Spider-Man. The rules of the game are quite simple: having found a static camera on the roof, you must use it to find a soft toy and capture it in a photo.

Reward : experience points and unlocking a unique costume (for all 12 riddles)

  • Pigeons

Another side-quest for gathering, in which we need to help a certain Howard find 12 pigeons in the city .

Reward : experience points and challenge tokens.

  • Crimes of bandits, “Demons”, prisoners and “Sable”

Manhattan is an extremely hectic place and crimes are committed here every minute. At first, ordinary bandits will rage on the streets, but soon they will be joined by more dangerous enemies – members of the “Demons” group, escaped prisoners and mercenaries of “Sable”. During crime prevention, we have to fight a lot, chase fugitives in cars and save civilians.

Reward : experience points and crime tokens.

Other entertainment

  • Security towers

Oddly enough, the hacking of the Oscorp Corporation towers has been moved out of the main statistics by area. However, this side activity should be performed first, so that all others are displayed on the map.

  • Mini games

Almost any open-world game is not complete without mini-games, and Marvel’s Spider-Man is no exception. After completing the prologue, we will soon find ourselves in the laboratory of Otto Octavius, where we will be offered to try out two varieties of local mini-games. In one, we assemble the power circuits, and in the other we combine the fragments in the spectrogram. There are a lot of tasks and for each one a solid amount of experience points is relied upon, so it is not recommended to skip them.

All about pumping

The character progression in Marvel’s Spider-Man is conventionally divided into two parts. The first is directly pumping the skills of Spider-Man in three branches: innovator, defender and web sling. Each of them has both active skills, such as new techniques, and passive ones, which increase various parameters of the hero (health, damage done, web throw range, and so on).

The second layer of pumping is associated with gadgets and Spider-Man suits. They all open as you progress through the story missions and some activities. However, their creation requires special resources – the tokens mentioned above. They are also needed for upgrading gadgets and creating mods for the suit

Costumes

In addition to the aesthetic beauty, each of the 28 costumes carries a unique function, such as shock waves or spider legs, which the hero had in the last Avengers . One available slot is allocated for it, while open functions can be combined with other suits.

Next come modifiers – they give passive bonuses to the parameters of the hero. To make them, all the same tokens are required, and the maximum number of simultaneously installed modifiers is three pieces.

Gadgets

Not wanting to lag behind Batman, his closest colleague in the shop, in the game Spider-Man acquires various gadgets. Among them are spider bombs, electroshock, and even spider drones. We can carry all eight types of gadgets at once, calmly changing them in the middle of the battle through the classic selection wheel.
