What Is Language In Education And What Does It Do

Language In Education means a systematic process that is accomplished through the teaching and learning. In linguistics we achieve this goal through applied linguistics methods. There are 4 important types of language education:

Mother tongue: in which tradition is identified with the national language or an official language. It is also called first language acquisition.

Second language:  that is non- native language where bilingualism is recognized and supported;

Foreign languages ​​: Language that is studied mostly for cultural needs.For example language for business purposes, language for jobs in other countries.

Classical languages ​​: the types of school in which they teach Latin and / or ancient Greek;

Ethnic languages: that is, the languages ​​of immigrant groups.

The concept of language in education implies that teachers involved in language teaching must proceed jointly and agree on the idea of ​​language as a “form” or as “social action. Today, knowledge of foreign languages ​​is not an indication of the intellectual development of every individual.A language ​​opens up opportunities for higher education abroad and that the one who owns the information, owns the world.  It is the beauty of language where you can make New friends, new skills, and easily travel, with the culture and traditions of other countries.

Language as Main Pillars of Character Education

The national education system serves to develop character development.  Character is a psychological trait, morals or manners that distinguish one person from another; thus, character (nature) can be understood as attitude, behavior, and good or bad deeds related to social norms.

The existence of language is a necessity for humans, because the language is one difference between animals and humans. This is because, only humans who have the language. So, it should be grateful for what has been given by the Creator.Education also determines the fate and future of a nation. Science and technology is developing very rapidly.The impact can be felt in many aspects of life, not least in the field of education. These developments have a positive impact on the one hand, but on the other hand have a negative impact. We can feel a positive impact in terms of the ease of getting information through the presence of the virtual world. Similarly, the negative impact can be seen in everyday life, such as changes in values ​​and norms in society.

Language In Education Is linked with Society,Behavior And Culture Of The Nation

Almost every time we watch the show associated with anarchistic actions on the part of our society. We really missed the people that have the properties (character) is friendly, polite and tolerant, as taught by the ancestors of this nation. Therefore, it is very relevant to the Ministry of National Education in order to commemorate National Education Day in 2011 under the theme “Character Education as a Pillar of the National Awakening”.

Language is an important element of culture. The phrase “language indicates the nation” has been proven. Through language we can know the culture and mindset of a society. A person’s character appears from the behavior of their language, as confirmed that the person’s way of thinking is reflected in the language it uses.

 The state policy in the field of education is based on the following principles:

    • Humanistic nature of education, the priority of human values, human life and health, free development of personality. Civic education, hard work, respect for human rights and freedoms, love of nature, homeland, family;
    • The unity of the federal cultural and educational space. Protection and development of the education system of national cultures, regional cultural traditions and peculiarities in a multinational state;
    • Universal accessibility and adaptability of the education system to the levels of development and special training of students and pupils;
    • the secular character of education in state and municipal educational institutions;
    • freedom and pluralism in education;
    • Democratic, state-public character of education management. The autonomy of educational institutions.
