He was born in Bogotá , Colombia on November 29 , 1916 .

Trajectory

He traveled to Santiago de Chile , on the recommendation of the urban architect Karl Brunner, to the Catholic University of Santiago where what was recognized as the best school of architecture at that time was located . He also studied in Colombia and the United States .

In Colombia he was a professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the National University of Colombia , he designed several factories, he founded the furniture factory Artecto, he was twice president of the Colombian Society of Architects. In total he spent 15 years in Colombia , at the end of which he met Le Corbusier with whom he worked.

The president of Colombia named him director of National Buildings when he was visiting professor at the University of Berkeley . He finally settled in the United States where he was recognized for his excellent architecture that was published in numerous North American and world magazines.

Death

He died in Miami on October 21 , 2007 .

He received a medal of honor from the Pan American Conference “Who’s Who in the World”, chosen among Frank Gehry, IM Pei and César Pelli .
