John Pyper-Ferguson is an Australian- born Canadian actor , best known for his numerous television appearances and most notably for having played Tex Nolan on the series The Last Ship .

Biographical synthesis
He was born in Australia , but grew up in Canada . He made his acting debut at age 15 on an episode of the Canadian series The Littlest Hobo, but it wasn’t until the late 1980s that he began acting regularly. His first big screen job was in the horror film Hello Mary Lou in 1987 .
Since then he has been seen in feature films such as Two Birds with One Stone, a 1990 comedy starring Mel Gibson and Goldie Hawn ; in 1992 Unforgiven by Clint Eastwood; in 1997 he played a role in the film Hard and Mature and in 2000 Pearl Harbor.
Between 1990 and 1991 , he played two different roles on the Bordertown series, first as August Fox during the Hand to Hand episode and later as Lonny Gibbons in the The Road Chosen episode. In 1994 he appeared as a guest on the popular series Highlander, where he played Brian Cullen.
In 1996 he played Brian Chason during the episode “Falling Star” of the series The Outer Limits, later he reappeared on the series playing Dr. Kenneth Vaughn during the episode “Mindreacher” in 2001 . In 1997 he played Jim Gilroy and Jake Waterston in the Millennium series; in 1998 he reappeared on the series playing Ben Fisher. That same year he appeared as a guest on the popular and acclaimed series The X-Files, where he played Detective John Kresge; He had previously played Paul in the 1995 episode “F. Emasculata” . In 1998 he appeared on the series Poltergeist: The Legacy, where he played Nicholas Oldman.
In 2005 he appeared in the movie Jarhead, where he played Julius. In 2006 he joined the cast of the series Brothers & Sisters, where he played guitar teacher Joe Whedon until 2007 . That same year he appeared in the movie X-Men: The Last Stand, where he got a small role playing the father in the minivan. In 2008 he played Pete Doyle in an episode of the popular series Cold Case. In 2009 he appeared as a guest on the series Bones , where he played the physicist Landis Collar.
In 2010 he joined the recurring cast of the series Caprica , where he played Tomas Vergis. That same year he appeared on the popular series Criminal Minds , where he played the murderer Wilson “Will” Summers. He also played Dr. William Burke on the popular series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation .
In 2011 he joined the series Alphas, where he played Stanton Parish until the end of the series in 2012 . In 2012 he played Hayden Walker on the series Grimm . In 2013, he appeared as a guest on the second season of the popular series Once Upon a Time , where he played Kurt Flynn.
In 2014 he joined the main cast of the new series The Last Boat , where he played Tex Nolan until the last episode of the third season in 2016 . In 2015 he joined the recurring cast of the fifth season of the series Suits where he plays Jack Soloff. In 2017, he joined the fourth season of the Agents of SHIELD series in a supporting role, playing Terrence Shockley.
He has been nominated for a Gemini Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Guest Role in a Drama Series in 1997 for the Highlander series and for the IGN Award for Best Television Villain in 2012 for the series Alphas.
