Personal life

Alex O’Loughlin was born on August 24 , 1976 in Canberra , Australia and is the son of a physics and astronomy teacher in Sydney . For the actor, the family is very special, his parents are good and great idealists who have always supported him.

Likes vampire literature and movies like Bram Stoker from Dracula , The Lost Boys . Also running in the mountains and climbing rocks. He is actively involved in the charity Donate Life where, whose mission is to make people aware of the importance of organ donation.

He has a son named Saxon , who was born when he was twenty years old and who currently lives with his mother in Australia.

Career

He began his career as a teenager in the world of short films and at the Fringe Theater in Sydney. He took numerous acting classes and courses, until finally at the age of 22, he was accepted into the Australian drama school of the National Institute of Dramatic Art .

In the theater he demonstrated his qualities by appearing in a wide variety of productions, in masterpieces by Shakespeare , Chekhov and Tolstoy , to the great and modern English screenwriter Edward Bond . He graduated 3 years later with a BA in Dramatic Art.

He had played numerous roles as a guest artist, until he made his debut in film in the thriller of science fiction , Manthing , based on the Marvel comic. He also starred in the acclaimed Australian comedy Oyster Farmer , directed by Anna Reeves , and the controversial indie film , Feed . O’Loughlin co-created the original concept for Feed, a thriller that takes place within the world of obesity erotica.

O’Loughlin impressed audiences with his portrayal of the character William Bryant in The Incredible Journey Of Mary Bryant , (an Anglo-Australian co-production for Creentime / Granada) working alongside Sam Neil , Jack Davenport and Romola Garai . It was an acclaimed production that earned him a nomination for two of the most prestigious Australian awards, one for the AFI for best actor and the other for LOGIE , in the same category.

He then joined the sci-fi hit The Shield , for much of season six, in which he played the potential new leader of Vic Mackey’s team , Kevin Hyatt .

He starred in films such as The Invisible with Marcia Gay Harden and Justin Chatwin , directed by David Goyer , and August Rush , alongside Robin Williams , Jonathan Rhys-Meyers , Terrence Howard , Keri Russell and Freddie Highmore , under the direction of Kirsten Sheridan .

He led the series of CBS / Warner Bros , Moonlight , in which she played the role of Mick St. John . It won The People’s Choice Award for Best New Drama.
