Abrams in 2006.

Although he was born in New York , he grew up in Los Angeles . He is the son of television producer Gerald W. Abrams and executive producer Carol Ann Abrams. Her sister is screenwriter Tracy Rosen. Abrams studied at Palisades High School and Sarah Lawrence College (in Bronxville, New York ).

Abrams is married to publicist and executive Katie McGrath and they have three children in common. They live in Pacific Palisades, in the suburbs of the city of Los Angeles (state of California).

Career

Abrams’ first job in the movie business began when he was 16 when he wrote the music for Don Dohler’s movie Nightbeast . During his last year in college, he teamed up with Jill Mazursky to write a feature film. From there he rose in the industry and his next jobs were Harrison Ford and Mel Gibson . He also co-wrote with Mazursky the screenplay for the comedy Two Stooges starring Joe Pesci and Danny Glover .

Abrams collaborated with producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Michael Bay on the film Armageddon (1998). That same year, he made his first foray into television with Felicity , which ran for four seasons on The WB Network, serving as the series’ co-creator (with Matt Reeves ) and executive producer. He also composed the music for the opening theme.

Under his Bad Robot production company , which he founded with Bryan Burk in 2001, Abrams created and executive produced the ABC series : Alias and is a co-creator (along with Damon Lindelof and Jeffrey Lieber ) and executive producer of Lost . As with Felicity , Abrams also composed the opening theme song for Alias and Lost .

In 2006 he served as executive producer of What About Brian and Six Degrees , also on ABC. He directed and wrote the two-part pilot for Lost , and was an active producer for the first half of the season. He made his film directorial debut in 2006 with Mission: Impossible III , starring Tom Cruise .

In the following years, he has divided his work between his two great passions, film and television and has worked in both branches in all its facets as a screenwriter, director, creator, producer, executive producer and even as a musical composer in series such as Revolution , Person of Interest, Believe and Almost Human . In the cinema he has worked on great successes such as Super 8 , Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and Star Trek Into Darkness .
