James Rumbaugh. Computer scientist and an object methodologist. Well known for his work on the creation of the Object Modeling Technique (OMT) and the Unified Modeling Language (UML).
Bibliography
Computer scientist born on August 22 , 1947 . He joined Rational Software in 1994 , and worked there with Ivar Jacobson and Grady Booch (“the Three Friends”) to develop UML . They later merged their software development methodologies, OMT , OOSE, and Booch into the Rational Unified Process (RUP). In 2003 he moved to IBM , after its acquisition of Rational Software. He retired in 2006 . He has a Ph.D. in computer science from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology ).
He has written several books on UML and RUP, together with Ivar Jacobson and Grady Booch, among which are in 1996 OMT insights: perspectives on modeling from the Journal of Object-Oriented Programming and Unified software development process in 1999 .
He directed the development of the OMT ( Object Modeling Technique ) methodology , at the General Electric Research and Development Center, where he worked for more than 25 years.
