Is Green Man Gaming a safe and legit place to buy games?

If you’re looking to expand your PC gaming library, you may have come across or heard of Green Man Gaming. This site offers gamers the opportunity to purchase everything from smaller indie games to the latest AAA releases, often at a slightly reduced price. As a result of this, potential customers often question the authenticity of the site. Here’s everything you need to know about whether or not Green Man Gaming is a safe and legit place to buy games.

Is GMG legit?

Yes, Green Man Gaming, or GMG as it is also known, is a respected, safe and legitimate site where you can buy over 6,000 PC games. It also sells some digital codes for Xbox titles.

Green Man Gaming was founded in the UK in 2009 by Paul Sulyok and Lee Packham and officially began selling games in 2010.

The site has grown exponentially, with over 1,350 publishers publishing their games for sale on the platform which operates in 195 countries using 140 payment systems and supporting 18 currencies.

In 2015, the site was accused of selling unauthorized keys. However, GMG clarified that most of the keys sold come directly from publishers, with the occasional need to offer keys for games from publishers that cannot provide them directly due to business restrictions.

Following these allegations, the company added a ‘Source’ section to each game’s store page, indicating where the keys being sold come from. In almost all cases, you’ll notice the editor appears here, like in the Outer Wilds example below.

With all of this in mind, you can rest assured that you won’t be scammed with a fake code or have your credit card details stolen.
