How to use Google Slides

Google is one of the companies that offers the most services. In this case we will talk about what Google Presentations is and how it works , a very useful tool for making presentations without having to download any type of software.

Probably on one occasion or another we have had to make a presentation. Although there are many tools to make presentations, many users choose to use PowerPoint among others.

Google has multiple tools that allow us to write texts, make annotations and even make presentations in the cloud. Google Presentations is a tool that is most useful to be able to make presentations with slides .

Before we start to see how Google Slides work, we must clarify that it is a totally free tool . Both in the web version and in the version for the computer locally.

Now that we know what Google Slides are, we may be wondering how they work.

How to create a presentation with Google presentations

  • To create a Google presentation, just go to Google Presentations and click on a blank one or choose one of the hundreds of templates that exist .
  • When we have already created a new presentation, we will have to go inside the template and delete the data that already comes inside the templates to replace it with our own information.

Google Slides interface

The interface of Google Presentations is really similar to PowerPoint or even other Word-style tools. In this case, we will need a constant Internet connection .

Although we are allowed to download the project and we are offered the ability to download the Google Slides software for your computer, we will need a stable internet connection to be able to work with Google Slides.

The interface that Google Slides has is really clean. If by any chance we see that access to the tools has been minimized, it is possible that it is due to the arrow located in the upper right part, and pressing it again, everything returns to normal.

At the top we find a multitude of sections through which we can add elements or customize our presentation. If we see that the options available to Google Presentations are not enough, we can always go to the ” Add-ons ” section and download more from the ” G Suite Store” .

It is a very intuitive and complete interface , although below we will show you how to add some elements to our presentations.

Add video, audio, and photos to presentations

As we have mentioned, Google Presentations are usually used in their web version, so we may wonder how we can add videos, audios, photographs … to our presentations.

  • First, we must go to the ” Insert ” section.
  • Next, we must choose which element to upload . In the case of uploading a photograph or video, we can upload it from our computer or select it from Google Drive and even YouTube.
  • To select a video or a photograph from Google Drive, we must click on the ” Drive ” icon or if we want to upload the file, we can click on ” Upload from the computer “. It should be noted that there are other Google services integrated into this service, such as Google Photos.
  • We can also copy the URL of a photograph or video and insert it directly into our presentation through the ” Insert ” section, selecting the type of file we want to attach and clicking on URL.
  • It should be noted that apart from the above, in the ” Insert ” section we can add other elements such as text boxes, tables, graphics …

We must bear in mind that if we enter a video or photograph that we have not uploaded or attached from our Google account, we must download it if we want to use the presentation without having an Internet connection .

Change appearance

If we have opted for a blank design when starting the Google presentation, don’t worry because you will be able to choose other themes without having to modify the information that you have entered inside the presentation.

To be able to change the appearance of our presentation, all you have to do is go to the ” Themes ” section on the right side of the screen and choose which design we like best.

On the other hand, if we prefer to change the location of the text inside the slide, we can always go to the ” Design ” section and select where we prefer the text on the slide.

Transition between slides

  • When we have almost finished our presentation, we may like to add transitions to obtain a more professional section . To add transitions in Google Presentations, we must go to the ” Slide ” section and click on ” Transition “.
  • Then, on the right side of the slides, the transition that is currently applied to the slide will appear and a series of animations available to be able to choose different transitions in each section.

How to share a presentation

Remember that in itself, the presentations will be saved automatically from time to time, although we can always go to the ” File ” section where we can save and even download the presentation.

To share a presentation, we simply have to go to the upper right and click on the ” Share ” button . From there, we can choose the recipient (s) and give each of them the permission we want.
