Preliminary information

Before going into the details of the procedure on how to see the replays on Fortnite , I think it may interest you to know more about the functioning of the recording system implemented by the title of Epic Games.

Well, you need to know that Fortnite automatically records all the games you play, so that you can show your friends (or your followers, if you are a streamer) your performances at any time. This way, you can review the matches and never miss a moment, as the matches are recorded from start to finish .

The peculiar aspect of the Fortnite replay system, however, is constituted by the fact that not only your game is recorded, but also that of the other players of the Battle Royale who during the match were in an area not too far from your character (if want to know more about the Battle Royale mode, I invite you to consult my guide on how Fortnite’s Battle Royale works ).

In any case, by accessing the replays you have a 360-degree view of the playing field and the techniques used by your opponents, which can be particularly useful for honing your skills. So learning how to take advantage of replays could give you a good competitive edge.

However, this system is only available for the Fortnite versions for PC , PlayStation 4 and Xbox One . In fact, on Nintendo Switch, Android and iOS this tool has not yet been made available. In addition, the last 100 games are stored on the PC , while on the console only the last 10 . In order not to make the system cancel a replay, it must be saved manually. Each movie weighs about 10MB .

I remind you that Fortnite is an ever-evolving game and therefore the developers could make changes to the replay system at any moment.

How to see a replay on Fortnite

The first thing to do to learn how to see the replays on Fortnite Chapter 2 , is to go to the main menu of the game, related to the Battle Royale mode .

At this point, you just need to simply move to the CAREER tab (by pressing, for example, the R1 button on the PS4 controller) and select the REPLAY item (eg the triangle button on the PS4 pad).

Here you will find the entire movies of your latest games: to play a replay, simply press first on the PLAY item at the bottom (using, for example, the X button on PS4) and then on the CONFIRM button that appears on the screen.

Once you enter the playback screen , the replay will start automatically from the start of the game, i.e. from when the players are still on the bus and can only thank the driver . Well, as you may have already noticed, at the bottom there are all the buttons that allow you to manage the playback of the movie .

By pressing on the clock icon , located on the left, you can activate the playback bar and jump to a specific part of the replay, while using the buttons next to it, you can pause  and increase the playback speed .

Using the buttons next to the player ‘s name , which is on the right, you can instead switch between users and see how he has conducted the game. Of course, within the “list” you will also find your username and you can then review your performance.

The eye icon is used to remove the buttons, so you can watch the replay in full screen . Next to it are the camera icon , which is used to change the type of view , and the + and  keys , to change the playback speed of the movie. You can also open the map , using the appropriate button (eg the touchpad on PS4): here you will see the position of the players who were in the “replay area”.

To access the advanced settings , you have to press on the camera icon with a gear that you find just below the playback bar. From here you can choose from numerous options, from viewing the silhouettes of the players to that of the effects of the storm , passing through the insertion of the names of the players within the replay .

In short, Fortnite allows you to manage replays in an advanced way and now you know how to use the native tool implemented by Epic Games.

How to save replays in Fortnite

I remind you that Fortnite can automatically delete your replays, if they are not saved. My advice is to “keep in memory” only the best games, so that too much disk space is not taken up.

To keep a movie in memory, just press on the RENAME AND SAVE item at the bottom right of the replay screen , which is located in the Battle Royale> CAREER> REPLAY path . After that, you will have to type in the name of the movie and press CONFIRM .

Perfect: this way, the game will keep the replay you saved in memory until you decide to delete it manually. Unsaved movies are all called Unsaved Replay and therefore you will certainly not struggle to understand which contents will be kept in memory and which are not.

Unfortunately, there is no native option to export replays outside of the game. However, you might still think about recording the screen with the usual methods. In this regard, I suggest you take a look at my tutorials on how to record on PS4 and on programs to record gameplay on PC .

Also, since you are interested in the title of Epic Games, I invite you to consult the page of my site dedicated to Fornite , where you will find many tutorials that could be for you.
