PDF files are basically images of original documents. PDF files are more difficult to edit and change than other documents such as Office or Open Office files. Adobe is the leader in PDF creation and manipulation. PDF files can be easily transferred, and provide security features such as locking out all editorial, and only allowing viewers with a certain password to view the information as well. PDF files can be viewed and used on most platforms, including Linux. The free Adobe Reader software allows Linux users to read any PDF file.
Instructions

Download and install Adobe Reader. Select the Linux version from the OS drop-down menu and press “Continue”. Download the file. Double-click the file to start the installation. The wizard will guide you through the process. Unless you want to install the player in a different location, accept all defaults during installation.

double-click a PDF file. PDF files will have the extension. Pdf. If you get any error messages, restart your computer. If you still have problems, right click the PDF file and choose “Open With”. Choose “Adobe Reader”.

View the file once it opens in Adobe Reader.

Use your Page Up, Page Down or the arrows to browse the file on your keyboard. Use the bookmarks on the left, if the file is present, to help navigate. You can also use the arrows at the bottom of the screen or the scroll bar to navigate.

Use the File menu to print PDF files via Adobe Reader.

Open PDF files via Adobe Reader by going to “file – Open” and browsing for the desired files
