How to install shaders in Minecraft

Minecraft is one of the most played games in video game history, making it one of the best games of all time. One way to visually add realism to the game are shaders , so today we will explain how you can install them in Minecraft.

Yes it is true that Minecraft, a priori, may seem like child’s play, but in reality we are facing a game with great depth and, above all, hours and hours of entertainment because no game will be the same as another thanks to its generation of worlds through “Seeds” or seeds.

The first time we enter a Minecraft world, we do not know what to do, but one thing catches our attention: square blocks. In Minecraft everything is square from the sun to the moon. But thanks to the shaders Minecraft can be turned into a beautiful graphic world.

Requirements to install the shaders

Due to the almost infinite generation of worlds in Minecraft , we need a somewhat powerful computer, because, although they are all cubes, the performance to generate so many entities must be somewhat high.

To install the shaders in Minecraft you will need some things before which you will have to download them, from Optifine and the shaders we leave the links at the end:

  • Optifine installation package in its latest version.
  • Shader pack.
  • Have Minecraft installed in its latest version.

Installing shaders on Windows

We are going to explain below how you can install shaders on a Windows computer:

  • Install Optifine through the previously downloaded file, you just have to open the file and click on “install”.
  • Now we will have to locate the Minecraft installation folder since the game does not install like any other game or program.
  • In Windows you will have to press the key combination “Win + R” and type% appdata%.
  • Now you will have to locate the folder “.minecraft”.
  • You will have to open the folder “shaderpacks” and copy into the downloaded .ZIP containing the shaders. In our case we have chosen the BSL Shaders, if the folder is not there, you will have to create it.
  • Now we must open Minecraft from its launcher and in the area where we have the version selection box we must choose the version that has Optifine installed.
  • Now finally, once Minecraft is open, you will have to click on “Options”.
  • Now we will click on “Graphics”.
  • Finally we will click on “Shaders”.
  • In this window we will have the shader packages installed, in our case we only have one and we will have to select it, Minecraft will automatically reload.
  • Finally, now we will only have to load our world and enjoy Minecraft with shaders. We show you a comparative image of what Minecraft looks like with and without shaders.

Installing shaders on macOS

We are going to explain below how you can install the shaders on a macOS computer, although the installation is the same as if we did it from a Windows computer, the only step will be that we will have to locate the internal Minecraft folder.

  • To do this we will have to right-click on the “Finder” application and write: “~ / Library / Application Support / minecraft /” .
  • Once inside we can see the same folders that we have in Windows and in the event that the shaders folder is not there, we must create it and paste the shaders file inside.

Now you will have the BSL shaders installed in your Minecraft world and fully animate your Minecraft worlds. Here is the download of all the necessary resources for the installation of shaders and some more shaderspack for Minecraft.
