How to disable traffic saving Android

The latest Android phones have a built-in Traffic Saver feature designed to save data transfer on the mobile network by limiting the background activity of some applications. This can be useful, but not always: for example, with traffic saving enabled, you may not receive some important notifications from applications and other information.

This tutorial details how to turn off traffic saving on pure Android smartphones and Samsung Galaxy, where the required actions are slightly different, as well as a video where the whole process is shown clearly. Related topic: How to turn off iPhone data saving mode .

Disabling mobile data saving on a smartphone with pure Android system

Further steps are demonstrated on a phone with Android 10, but will work in versions 7 and up to 11. On some brands of phones the actions may be slightly different, but the logic remains the same.

There are two options for disabling traffic savings, the first is in the settings:

  1. Go to Settings – Network & Internet.
  2. Go to the “Saving traffic” item.
  3. Disable traffic saving at the top of the screen.

I also recommend paying attention to the following two important points:

  • In the same settings for saving traffic, you can set applications on which savings will not apply in the “Unlimited mobile Internet” section.
  • If you turn off traffic saving, but turn on “Power saving mode”, it can also cause applications to not sync information (or will do so much less frequently).

The second option for disabling the saving of mobile Internet is the notification area, by default there is no button to quickly enable and disable the traffic saving mode, but just click on the button settings button and drag the “Traffic saving” button to the list of controls available in the notification area.

In the future, you can quickly enable and disable the function by simply pressing this button.

How to turn off traffic saving on Samsung

On Samsung smartphones, disabling the traffic saving mode is not much, but it is different:

  1. Go to Settings – Connections.
  2. Open Data Usage.
  3. Click “Save Traffic”.
  4. Turn off traffic saving mode.

If desired, on the screen from step 4, you can specify applications that will be able to use the mobile Internet without restrictions, even with savings enabled.

As in the previous case, remember that mobile data transmission can be affected by:

  • Battery saving mode
  • Various Android optimization apps

Saving data in Yandex Browser and Google Chrome

The functions of saving data (mobile traffic) are also present in browsers on Android, then there are a couple of examples of how this setting looks like:

  • In Google Chrome, you need to open the menu and in the “Advanced” section of the settings go to the “Simplified mode” item, disable it if necessary.
  • In Yandex Browser, open the menu and go to the “Settings” item. Then, in the “Turbo Mode” item, enable or disable the compression mode (and, accordingly, saving) traffic.
