Creating a scratch disk
Before creating a scratch disk for your computer, you must first determine how much memory (RAM) you have installed on your system .
To find out how much memory (RAM) you have installed in your system, for example Windows , right-click Computer, and then click Properties. The amount of RAM will be displayed at the bottom, under System.
Increase the size of virtual memory
- Click the Start button, right-click Computer, and then click Properties.
- In the panel on the left, select the Advanced system settings option .
- You must go to the Advanced tab, and then in Performance, select in Settings.
- Now select on the Advanced tab and, and later, on the Virtual Memory option, then select on Change.
- Now just uncheck the option called “Automatically manage file size” found among the drives options.
- Under Drive found under volume option, select the drive option that has the paging file you are going to modify.
- Choose the Custom size option, simply write a new size in megabytes in the Initial size (MB) part of the box and in the Maximum size (MB) part, then choose the Set option and select OK.
Method 2: Using a USB thumb drive as RAM in Windows Vista and in Windows 7 and 8
- Insert a memory or pendrive and format it.
- Select using the right button of the mouse on the icon of your pendrive and select the option “Properties”.
- Select the option “Ready boost” found in the part of the tabs and then “Use this device”.
- Choose the maximum space to reserve the system speed.
- Click OK and Apply.
