How to complete all the tests of Merlin in Hogwarts Legacy

We offer you to familiarize yourself with all types of tests of Merlin in the game

It doesn’t matter which House you choose at the start of the game. To prove that you

one of the smartest wizards or witches in Hogwarts Legacy, you need to complete Merlin’s trials. The legendary Merlin is one of the most iconic wizards of all time who, in the magical world of J.K. Rowling, was once a Slytherin. With a sharp mind and a penchant for riddles, Merlin scattered several puzzles around Hogwarts.

The game has several varieties of Merlin’s tests, but they are all similar to some extent. Challenges are marked with a “leaf” symbol on the map and mini-map, and in each location you will find the same stone platform that you need to interact with. Each challenge requires Sweet Mallow Leaves to activate. You can grow mallow in the Help Room, although you can also buy it in Hogsmeade stores.

The first trial of Merlin is revealed in the story of the game and you have to complete it. After that, you will be on your own, so you can solve or ignore as many puzzles as you want. I still recommend paying attention to them, because with their help you can increase the capacity of your inventory. You’ll get even more room for numerous gear items that fill up your inventory space very quickly. You will have to visit Hogsmeade or other settlements much less frequently in order to get rid of unnecessary equipment.

Please note that the mere fact of passing the tests of Merlin will not allow you to automatically increase your inventory. After the next condition is met upon completion of a specific number of tests, open the menu and select the “Tests” section. Go to the “Research” tab, select the “Merlin Trials” line and collect the rewards. Each reward expands the inventory by four slots, although the number of challenges that must be completed to advance to the next level increases significantly each time.

All types of tests of Merlin and how to pass them

In the world of Hogwarts Legacy, you can find several dozen different trials of Merlin. Luckily, many of them are similar, and they all fall under a few basic patterns. There will be some differences in terms of finding specific objects (puzzle pieces), but understanding the scheme for passing all the tests will make the task much easier.

Do not forget that various spells will be needed to solve these puzzles. It’s probably best to start playing as much of the main storyline as you can, unlocking as many spells as possible before attempting to complete all of Merlin’s trials on your own.

And now more about the varieties of these tests.

Destroy stones

If there are several large rocks in the trial with green energy seeping through the cracks, simply destroy them all with Confringo and the trial will be completed.

Flip stones with symbols

In other challenges, you will find small cubes with different symbols, which are placed on top of other stones with similar symbols. Perhaps these cubes are somewhere nearby and they will have to be moved with the help of Wingardium Levios. Whatever the case, once the cubes are on the immovable stones, use Flipendo to flip them over until each cube is in the correct position. You can flip cubes from different sides. Make sure that the patterns on the cube and on the pillar below it are the same. Do this with the three cubes on the pillars.

moths

If there are stone blocks in the trial with a crystal placed inside, you must move the nearest clusters of moths into them. Just look for glowing moths (green) and then move them to the crystals with Lumos.

Giant stone sphere

If you find a lone stone sphere, use any movement spells (like Accio) to place it on the platform with the indentation. However, once you unlock the Wingardium Leviosa, focus on it as it is the easiest way to move such objects.

Incandescent

Another simple challenge: you need to find three braziers in the area of the puzzle and quickly light them up. As soon as you light the brazier, it will begin to sink underground, so you need to light all the braziers before they go down. Otherwise, the fire will go out and you will have to repeat the action. Even Incendio can be used depending on the challenge, but often the braziers are far away, so Confringo is needed.

Repair of stone statues

When you activate this challenge, several nearby statues will shatter into pieces. Just repair them all with a reparo. If you have difficulty finding the statues, use Revelio – the wreckage will be highlighted in blue.

small balls

This is by far one of the easiest tests of Merlin. First, find three stone disks on the ground with recesses for balls. Look around and find piles of five balls each. Move them with Accio or Wingardium Leviosa to these discs in any order. Do this for each disc and the test is complete. If you have trouble finding small balls, use Revelio. In some cases the balls will hide. Use Incendio to burn bushes or cobwebs.

Breaking balls

In this challenge, you will find three sets of pillars with three stone orbs that can be broken by most spells. I think I even broke them with the main attack on the LMB. Destroy 9 orbs and the challenge will come to an end.

stone platforms

One of the most difficult challenges: you have to climb the rocks, run or jump over each of them without falling to the ground. In some cases this is easy to do, in others the stone platforms and blocks can be placed awkwardly and there is a risk of falling to the ground and having to start all over again.
