The procedure for switching Apple IDs on iPad is quick and easy. In fact, simply access the device settings, press the button to disconnect the account in use and log in with the new Apple ID.
Before showing you how to proceed in detail, I want to emphasize that it is possible to change Apple ID on iPad without losing data . In particular, it will be useful for you to know that all data (e.g. photos, videos, documents) saved locally on your iPad will not be deleted and will also be available using an Apple ID other than the one in use. The same goes for apps you’ve downloaded on your iPad.
Furthermore, I would like to point out that before logging out of your account, you can choose whether to keep a copy of the data relating to calendars, contacts and Safari and the passwords saved on Keychain. Then also type the password in the appropriate field, press Next again and, if two-factor authentication is active, type the 6-digit code that was sent to you on another device associated with the Apple ID to which you are trying to access.
Then also enter the code you use to unlock the device on which the previous verification code was sent to you and tap the Finish item at the top right. Then choose whether or not to merge the data you have previously saved on the iPad to iCloud by selecting the option of your interest between Merge and Do not merge .

If your intention is to change Apple ID on used iPad , I am sorry to tell you that you cannot do it yourself as you need to know the previous owner’s Apple ID password.
This means that the only solution available to you is to contact the person who gave you or sold you the used iPad: if they are willing to provide you with their password, you will be able to disconnect your iPad from the Apple ID in use following the directions I gave you earlier to change Apple ID on iPad .

If you’re wondering if it’s possible to change Apple ID on iPad without password , I’m sorry to tell you that the answer is no because you need the access key associated with it to log out of your account.
However, if you don’t remember your password, you can start the procedure that allows you to recover it directly from your iPad using two-factor authentication , which must already be enabled to proceed with password recovery.
To proceed, access the iPadOS Settings by pressing the gear wheel icon , tap your name and, on the Apple ID screen, select the Sign out option .
At this point, click on the item Forgot your password? , enter your phone number in the appropriate field and tap the Next button at the top right. Now, if you have another device associated with your Apple ID, you should have received a notification to reset your password: press the notification in question and follow the instructions shown on the screen to set a new passkey.

If you need to change Apple ID on a locked iPad , as you can imagine, you need to unlock the device first.
If by “locked iPad” you mean that the device screen does not respond to touch, I recommend that you force restart it: if you have an iPad without a Home button , press and quickly release the Volume Up button , then the Volume Down button and finally hold Press and hold the top button (the one you use to turn on iPad ) until the device starts restarting. If, on the other hand, you have an iPad with a Home button , hold down the Home button and the top button at the same time until you see the Apple logo. If your intention is simply to change Apple ID password on iPad , you can do it by proceeding directly from the tablet settings.
So take your iPad, press the gear wheel icon to access the iPadOS Settings and touch your name displayed at the top left. Now, select the Password and security option and, on the Sign in to iCloud screen , enter your current password and press the OK button .
Once this is done, tap on the Change password item , re-enter the current password associated with your Apple ID in the Current field and type the new password in the New and Verify fields .
Please note that the password must be at least 8 characters and include a number, an uppercase letter and a lowercase letter. Moreover, since the password allows you not only to install applications (including paid ones) but also to protect your data, manage payment methods, completely reset iPad (and all devices associated with your Apple ID) and much more , I recommend that you use a secure password .
Finally, press the Modify option and select the Don’t sign out option , to set the new password and avoid disconnecting all the devices associated with it from your Apple ID. After saving the changes, enter the new password in the appropriate field visible on the Apple ID Password screen and select the Sign in option .
