Many users on Twitch, who create and publish content for children, young people and adults, prefer to create a blacklist in order to block words. And what everyone should know is that by having a Twitch account, the platform gives you control so you can do all of this easily.

Use the Twitch AutoMod to ban words from Twitch

First of all, it is important to first know what we are referring to when we talk about the Twitch AutoMod; which is a first-hand tool. This feature is a bot that works automatically analyzing the words of abuse , after you have set it up in your account.

Twitch AutoMod will take care of flagging and reporting hateful and abusive messages, so you can see them later and delete or accept them. Once you see them, you can decide whether to block these comments or mute them, and thus control the moderation in your account.

To use AutoMod, all you have to do is go to Twitch and go to the ‘Channel Settings’ , where you will find the  Chat Options  . In those options you will be able to ‘Choose level’, to set a level in the ‘AutoModulation’ that you want in your AutoMod and click Save to be able to set the changes.

AutoMod provides 5 levels, from which you can choose one; with level 0 you will be allowing most comments, but the application will block the default ones.

Level 1 monitors and removes hateful comments; 2 controls explicit sexual and abusive messages. On the other hand, level 3 blocks those sexual and abusive messages much more carefully , and level 4 blocks messages with obscene or rude words.

Configure the AutoMod

In addition to blacklisting, you can configure AutoMod so that by using signs like (*) next to a word, all similar words and words in other languages will be blocked. With these settings saved, AutoMod will take care of banning the words that have been blocked on your channel.
