How much does it cost to repair iPhone out of warranty? Driven by the request of a reader on our Facebook page , we want to clarify the prices applied by Apple to repair an iPhone out of warranty: the prices you will read below are the official prices of Apple for all those who own an iPhone no longer covered by the warranty; all iPhones still under warranty and iPhones covered by the Apple Care policy are therefore excluded.
It is also worth noting that Apple specifies that the declared prices include VAT and refer to repairs requested “online or over the phone”; it is therefore possible that an intervention, physically going to an Apple Store, may provide for a different amount.
To repair an iPhone out of warranty, Apple basically distinguishes three types of interventions.
Battery replacement service
The battery replacement service costs 29 euros , to which 12.20 euros can be added for any shipping costs. This price is valid for iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X models and, as specified on the site, only up to December 2018.
The price of only 29 euros for battery replacement is the result of the initiative that followed the controversy over slowed iPhones when the battery was no longer in perfect shape. The possibility of having a price so low as to be competitive with that of the local shops that install components that are certainly not of the quality of those that Apple chooses (and also invalidate the warranty, if this is still present …), is destined to end at 31 December 2018 (although Apple revised the accounts) .
For iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR it is 69 euros while for all other models, the price is 89 euros (plus any shipping costs).
As specified by Apple, in this case it is good to make a backup before sending your iPhone as it will be necessary to restore the smartphone and possibly proceed with a new installation of iOS. The backup will allow you to restore the data once the phone is returned.

IPhone screen repair
In the event that a screen repair is required, the cost varies depending on the model of your iPhone. For iPhone 6 or iPhone SE the price is 151.20 euros; for iPhone 6s, 6 Plus, 7 and 8 it is 171.20 euros ; for iPhone 6s Plus, 7 Plus and 8 Plus it is 1911.20 euros ; for iPhone XR it is 221.20 euros, for iPhone X and XS it is 311.20 euros , while for iPhone XS Max the price is 361.20 euros .
All these prices already include shipping costs.
Out of warranty assistance (generic)
Apple also lists a generic “Out of Warranty Service” cost, with a range of different prices based on iPhone model, all including shipping charges.
Apple specifies that the cost of the intervention could also be less expensive than reported and we could therefore hypothesize that the one indicated could be the maximum cost that a user could pay in case of intervention, although this interpretation is not confirmed by Apple. As is known, in fact, Apple chooses to entirely change the device with a refurbished one instead of repairing it and in this case the higher cost could refer.
Finally, if the iPhone problem was caused by severe damage due to an accident or misuse, Apple may decide not to provide support.
