Birth

He was born in Livilivi, department of Potosí , on July 4 , 1823 . His parents were José Brígido Pacheco and Josefa Leyes. He did not finish his higher studies, because from a very young age he dedicated himself to mining activity in which he made a quick and high fortune, which allowed him to travel to the then distant Europe , where he acquired some culture and a lot of experience.

He was tall, thin, with white skin and blond hair, he only wore a mustache and always dressed simply and elegantly. He was friendly, jovial and cheerful. Very generous, shrewd and kind. He enjoyed great popularity.

political career

In the elections

In 1884 he took part in general elections as a candidate for the presidency, disputing the position with Aniceto Arce Ruiz , from the Conservative party, and Eliodoro Camacho, from the Liberal party. It was in these elections that the factor of bribery was introduced in the elections, in a famous war of the check against the check according to the expression of Aniceto Arce, who did not hide the paternity of this immoral procedure.
