Grady Booch Designer and software methodologist known for being the creator of UML alongside Ivar Jacobson and James Rumbaugh . Chief Scientific Officer at Rational Roose and an IBM Partner as well as the author of several books and articles.

Software designer born in 1955 . Well known for the development of the Unified Modeling Language (UML), together with Ivar Jacobson and James Rumbaugh. He also developed the Booch method of software development, which he presents in his book, Object-Oriented Design and Analysis . He advises adding more classes to simplify complex code.

He obtained his degree in 1977 at the Academy of the Air Force of the United States and a master ‘s degree in electrical engineering in 1979 from the University of California , Santa Barbara .

Internationally recognized for his innovative work in software architecture, software engineering, and collaborative development environments. He has dedicated his life’s work to improving the art and science of software development. He served as chief scientist for Rational Software Corporation from its founding in 1981 and its acquisition by IBM in 2003 .

He is the author of six best-selling books, including the UML User Guide and Object Oriented Design and Analysis. He writes a regular column on architecture for IEEE software. He has published several hundred articles on software engineering, including articles published in the early 1980s that originated the term and practice of object-oriented design (OOD), as well as articles published in the early 2000s that originated the term and practice of collaborative development environments. (CDE).
