Glock Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung | GmbH (Trade name GLOCK ). It is an arms production company located in Deutsch-Wagram, Austria , named after its founder, Gaston Glock. Although the company is famous for its line of high-tech and polymer pistols, it also produces military knives and infantry shovels. Glock pistols are used by many police forces and armies around the world, including most of the North American ones. They are also very popular with civilians, who use them for personal protection or target practice. The company finances a sports shooting team that travels around the world. Glock produces more than 20 pistol models in seven different calibers.

Pistols

Glocks are common among military and police forces around the world. Their popularity is due to several factors: they are highly reliable, perform well under extreme conditions, and fire a wide range of ammunition types (9mm, 10mm, .40 S&W, 45ACP, 45GAP, 357 Sig, 380 ACP). The simplicity of its design contributes to its reliability, since it contains few small components (almost half of the typical gun) making its maintenance and repair very easy.
Their polymer structure makes them lighter than typical aluminum or steel pistols , something that makes them very attractive to police officers or civilians who carry weapons for long periods of time. The trigger is the only operating element, the three built-in locks disengage when the trigger is pulled, and re-engage when released. Glock pistols do not have manual safety locks, the only controls other than the trigger are to release the receiver cover and to release the magazine. This adds simplicity to use and eliminates potential misuse of the weapon under tension. It also provides a good balance when the pistol is fully loaded.
Most steel components in Glock pistols are chemically treated to increase surface hardness and resistance to corrosion and water. Although the Heckler & Koch VP70 was the first pistol with a polymer body, the popularity of the Glock inspired other manufacturers to build similar pistols, including the Walther P99 , Smith & Wesson Sigma, HS2000, Steyr M, Taurus PT 24/7, Caracal , FN Herstal FNP and the Ruger SR9. Glocks stays mid-priced, generally cheaper than the SIG Sauer SIG P226 | P226 and Heckler & Koch USP, but more expensive than the Ruger or Taurus models.

In addition to semi-automatic pistols, Glock also produces the Glock 18, a pistol that can be fired shot by shot, or fully automatic, in bursts. This is generally only offered to police or military forces.
Knives

Glock currently manufactures two models of knives, the Feldmesser 78 (Field Knife 78) and the Feldmesser 81 (Survival Knife 81). The Feldmesser 78 is a classic knife, with a 165mm blade, 290mm in total length and weighs 206g. The Feldmesser 81 has the same dimensions, but includes a saw on the back of the blade and weighs 202g. The handles and the covers are made of polymer and are available in three colors: olive green, sand yellow and black.
Infantry Shovel

Glock also makes an infantry shovel, the Feldspaten (German field sword). The Feldspaten has a chemically hardened blade that can be set in three positions for digging, shoveling and cutting, as well as a telescopically extended handle made of fiberglass and hardened nylon, which contains a 175mm metal saw. The infantry shovel weighs 650g and stretches to 630mm. The blade and handle can be folded and shortened for transport up to 260mm X 150mm X 60mm. It also has a nylon transport bag that can be attached to a belt or backpack.
