Gamification

Gamification, gamification or playfulness is used to designate the technique or strategy used to motivate students, workers and clients among many others, in some of their tasks, in non-recreational environments.

What is gamification for ?

Video games exert great power over part of the population, the resources allocated to them are many, both monetary and temporary, and in this situation, there have been many who have tried to take advantage of these skills and positive attitudes of video games to apply them in others areas such as school or work. In this way, people can be motivated, either by competing with the rest of their classmates and demonstrating who is the best, to win some incentive, or to demonstrate hidden skills.

  • Mechanics: there are rules that indicate what can and cannot be done, one of the basic pillars of any game, that way the player acquires awareness and commitment. They can set the playing time, the teams, who is the winner, etc.
  • Game dynamics: they suppose the incentive for which the player has motivation, could be an example the fact of socializing with a group, of getting a challenge, of competing, of winning, etc.
  • Components: are those essential elements so that the game can be developed. For example a board or tablet or goal, the medals that are obtained when passing level, etc.

In conclusion, we must differentiate the gamification of a simple videogame, since this technique is always performed in non-recreational environments, with the aim of motivating, loyalty and taking more advantage of a task taking into account the concentration and incentive they cause.
