No WiFi after upgrading to Windows 10
After upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 Pro or Windows 10 Enterprise, you may find that wireless networks are not available. Wired Ethernet connections may also not work correctly if you are using the built-in Ethernet adapter or USB Ethernet adapter. This can happen due to the presence of unsupported VPN software.
Here are a few things you can try:
1] Restart your computer. Reboot your wifi router and see if it works.
2] Then check if the VPN software is installed on your computer. If it doesn’t support Windows 10, uninstall it and see if it solves the problem. If so, go to the software vendors website and download the version that supports Windows 10.
3] Disable your firewall and see if that is the cause.
4] Go to Settings> Network & Internet> Airplane Mode. Make sure airplane mode is off.
5] To resolve this issue, KB3084164 recommends the following. First, run netcfg –sn in CMD to see if DNI_DNE appears in the resulting list of network protocols, drivers, and services. If so, continue.
Run the following commands, one after the other, from an elevated command prompt:
reg delete HKCR \ CLSID \ {988248f3-a1ad-49bf-9170-676cbbc36ba3} / va / f netcfg -v -u dni_dne
If that doesn’t work for you, create a system restore point and then run regedit to open Registry Editor. Navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ CLSID \ {988248f3-A1AD-49bf-9170-676cbbc36ba3}
If it exists, delete it. It basically does the same thing as the reg delete command ..
6] The Reset Networking feature in Windows 10 helps you reinstall network adapters and restore the original settings of network components.
7] If you do not see the Wi-Fi network name at home, first make sure your router is configured to broadcast the network name.
To test this, you need to connect your computer to your router using an Ethernet cable. Then open your browser and enter the IP address of your wireless router in the address bar and press Enter. Sign in and go to the wireless settings page. Now make sure that Enable SSID Broadcast, Wireless SSID Broadcast, etc. is set to On.
