Fix;Ps4 update file cannot be used

ps4 update file cannot be used. There are 2 ways to update the ps4 console, if doing it automatically shows the error “Update file is damaged”

1st option, the easiest:On the ps4, go to [Settings]> [System Software Update] and try the update again. If it doesn’t work, go to step 2.

The 2nd, which is at your own risk, is to download the file manually and copy it to a pen drive:The downloaded file PS4UPDATE.PUP you have to save it in a folder called UPDATE within another called PS4, that is, the pendrive will look like this X:> PS4> UPDATE> PS4UPDATE.PUP (I put> but it is counter bar and this forum does not let me put it) where X is the drive of the pendrive. The folders yes or yes have to be written in CAPITAL LETTERS.

Then, connect the pendrive to the ps4, and go to [Settings]> [System software update] and if everything goes well, it will recognize the update and start the process.

How to update your PS4 without internet connection?/ps4 update file cannot be used

You can keep your PlayStation 4 updated even if you don’t have them connected to the internet . To do this, you must first download the latest update published by Sony on the official PlayStation website  and follow these steps:

On a PC or Mac, create a folder inside the USB and name it “PS4”. Inside that folder, create another folder named “UPDATE”.

Save the update file that you previously downloaded in the “UPDATE” folder. Save the file as “PS4UPDATE.PUP”.

Verify that the “PS4” folder is in the root directory of your USB stick and not in another folder.

Connect a Dual Shock 4 controller with a USB cable and the USB pin to your PS4.

Start your PS4 in safe mode, press and hold the power button and release it after the second beep.

Select safe mode option 3: “Update system software.”

Select “Update from USB storage device” and press “OK”.

What if it doesn’t work?

There may be some console problems and in that case the correct process is to initialize the PS4 system as directed by Sony. But this has a problem: it will delete all the information from the console and it will be factory reset. You will delete everything you have saved , users, etc. It will also erase all games, although you can always re-download them from the Library if you have purchased them. But in any case, before initializing or factory resetIt is advisable that you check if you have followed all the previous steps correctly, that you try to try again or that you look for a solution if you do not want to delete all the information you have. If there is no choice, you can initialize the PS4 system and replace the firmware by following the instructions on the Sony help page .

You can also try to run the safe mode of the PS4 , which we have talked about lines above, since some of the options that it brings could help us to solve the problem.

Remember that to enter you must keep the power button on the console itself (not on the Dualshock 4 remote control) pressed for approximately 7 seconds , until you first hear a beep and then a second, which is the one that indicates that the button can be released. .

The 8 options that seem like are:

  • Restart PS4
  • Change resolution.
  • Update system software.
  • Restore default settings.
  • Rebuild database.
  • Initialize PS4.
  • Initialize PS4 (reinstall system software).
  • Activate HDCP mode.

We can choose to Restore default settings and thus get the PS4 to have the same configuration as when we brought it home. This may make it possible for us to install the software over USB.

When using Rebuild Database what you do is scan the console’s hard drive to create a new database. this can help us if at any given moment any of this data caused the update to fail.

A more radical step would be to click on Initialize PS4 , since we are going to achieve it is to take the Ps4 to the factory, leaving it as it came from the store as far as software is concerned. So it could be a solution, although it is very intrusive as it formats the entire console.

In the option Initialize PS4 (reinstall system software) do the same as the previous one, with the difference that we must put a USB with the system so that once it has been formatted, reinstall the operating system from the pendrive. This can solve our problem, but we must put you in advance, that if the problem continues, you will have formatted and the operating system will not be able to install. If you are not a very knowledgeable user, better not do this.
