Fix: WhatsApp backup could not be completed

If you are one of those who has this notification on your phone: “WhatsApp backup could not be completed” , you are not the only one and you don’t have to worry.

There are many simple solutions to this problem. You can try to fix it with the steps that we give you below , and even make a backup copy of your chats on your PC, or through WhatsApp Web, if it is urgent or you consider it necessary.

WhatsApp Tricks

  • change background whatsapp
  • Know if blocked WhatsApp
  • disconnect whatsapp
  • Delete for all WhatsApp
  • Video calls WhatsApp Web

According to the WhatsApp Help Center , if the device does not locate the backup, it could be due to the following situations:

  • The Google Drive account is different from the one used to create the first backup.
  • The phone number has changed from the one used in the first backup.
  • The memory or SD card where the file is stored is damaged.
  • No backup on the device yet

update whatsapp

As simple as entering the Play Store, typing WhatsApp and checking that an update is not available , but we have explained how to update WhatsApp step by step if you need help in the process.

Give WhatsApp permission to save a backup to Google Drive

Go to your WhatsApp app and open it. Once inside, touch the upper right icon (the one with the three points), then select settings and finally the chats tab.

Once here, look for the backup option, (with a cloud icon). Inside, you can choose the saving frequency, the Google Drive account in which the files will be saved , try to force a manual save, etc.

The full path is as follows:

Settings -> Chats -> Backup -> Activate

Force close the app

If none of the above has worked, you can try to force close the application and thus restart it . The menu from which to do this in Android is similar to the following (depending on the manufacturer):

Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications -> WhatsApp -> Force close

Clear WhatsApp cache

Something that can also help is clearing the WhatsApp cache. To do so, follow the same steps as to force the stop, only finally clicking on clear data.

Clearing the cache can help fix problems that are preventing the copy from being saved, such as corrupted files , so clearing the cache is generally good for problems.

Try a different Google Drive account

Open your Google Drive application , click on the upper left corner, on your avatar, and then on add another account , which if we don’t have it, can be created at that moment.

Make a copy on WhatsApp Web

If we have not yet managed to save our data from our mobile device, using the following Google extension we can download our chats on WhatsApp Web : Backup WhatsApp Chats .

Once installed, all you have to do is enter WhatsApp Web , select the chat you need to save and click the extension icon next to your browser bar.

Back up data to your PC with iCareFone

Finally, and as a last option, you can directly download your WhatsApp data to your PC using this program.

  • Download iCareFone for Windows/Mac

Once installed, all you have to do is connect your mobile via USB (remember to activate USB transfer mode once you connect the charging cable) and the program will guide you to make a copy of your chats on your computer .
