We plan a family vacation every year. This year, we planned to visit the famous hill resort, Shimla. Shimla is one of the attractive tourist destinations of India. A family friend of ours suggested us to come to Shimla as they enjoyed the place very much.
We planned a trip and stayed in Shimla for a week. The accommodation was awesome and we started for trekking after having sleep. We enjoyed Chadwick Falls, Jakhu Temple, Dhanu Devta Temple and Tara Devi Temple. We visited the Famous Gayty Theater; The architecture of many buildings in Shimla is distinctive. The best part of the holiday is the yak ride in Kufri, which is 16 km from Shimla.

Family holidays are the best time of any year. Whenever my holiday starts, I start thinking which place is going to be our destination for this holiday. This time, after a long discussion I won the chance to decide the destination. We planned a trip to our favorite destination Shimla.
Shimla is the capital of Himachal Pradesh which is a famous hill resort in India. A friend of mine went to Shimla last year. He suggested me the best places to visit Shimla. We planned a long trip and set an appropriate time so that we would not miss any fun at the hill resort.
First, we went to experience the funniest full toy train ride that is taking place between Kalka and Shimla. Next, we toured through a short trekking to some temples. Trekking was a great experience that helped us understand each other and complete each other trekking.
We also visited a place called Kufri which is about 16 km from Shimla. The place has beautiful natural gardens and we also enjoyed a yak ride in Kufri. One thing we miss in Shimla is ice skating which is mainly open from December to February.
We enjoyed an evening at Lakkad Bazaar. This market is a lumber market in Shimla with lots of wood items which have beautiful articles such as sticks and decorative articles. We bought some important items for the house from there. Our trip to Shimla was an unforgettable experience. I wish we could visit this amazing hill resort once again.

During the summer vacation last year, our school organized a trip to Shimla. In the scorching summer, a trip to a hill station was truly a relief experience. We left for the Kalka Mail in a group of twenty students. Our math teacher Rajdeep Singh was our supervisor. We reached Kalka at 10 am. There is a meter gauge line that runs from Kalka to Shimla. It is a sixty kilometer mountainous route.
It takes eight hours to reach there. The train runs very slowly on zig zag lines. A train going on this line has only 8 or 9 coaches. The speed is so slow that one can get down from the moving train. The surrounding environment offers beautiful views. The tall trees look majestic.
As we approach Shimla, we can feel the difference in temperature. The disturbing heat of the plains of Delhi had lagged far behind and we had wrapped ourselves in blankets and put on woolen clothes. The journey from Kalka to Shimla was an amazing experience in itself.
We had our accommodation in a grand hotel located on Dalhousie Road in Shimla. This hotel is very popular among tourists. Due to its quality service, it is known as Tourist Paradise. The next morning, we hired a bus and under the supervision of our teacher we visited Shimla and all the nearby places to see.
We visited the Mall, Lower Bazaar, Jakhu Hill and the famous Kalibani Temple in Shimla. We also went to Kufri and Naldera. These places are so beautiful that they have a lasting impression on visitors. Shimla is one of the most beautiful hill stations in India. This is because the British made it the summer capital of the Government of India. The Governor’s Lodge has been converted into a Center for Advanced Study.
Shimla is now the capital of Himachal Pradesh. Jakhu is a mountain top surrounded by tall trees. It is through steep flight that we can reach Jakhu. It is said that Lord Hanuman took Sanjivani from Jakhu to Lakshmana.
After four days, we had to come back. We did not know how time passed. The places were so beautiful that we didn’t feel like going back. However, the journey was very interesting and enjoyable. We want to visit it every summer.
