Donepezil hydrochloride, commercially known as Labrea, is a drug indicated for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. This medicine works in the body by increasing the concentration of acetylcholine in the brain, a substance that is present at the junction between cells of the nervous system. This happens by inhibiting the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, the enzyme responsible for breaking acetylcholine.
How to take
Generally, on medical advice, doses ranging from 5 to 10 mg per day are recommended for people with mild and moderately severe disease.In people whose disease is moderately severe to severe, the clinically effective dose is 10 mg daily.
Who should not use
This medicine is contraindicated for patients with an allergy to donepezil hydrochloride, piperidine derivatives or any of the components of the formula. Also, it should not be used on pregnant women, nursing women or children unless recommended by the doctor.You should also tell your doctor about other medications you are taking to avoid drug interactions.
