Corsair MM700 RGB 3XL Review

We were really looking forward to trying out a giant mousepad from Corsair. Specifically, the Corsair MM700 RGB 3XL has fallen into our hands .

It is a mat with RGB technology and with an extra large size of more than a meter long. What madness1. Do you want to know if this is your mat? We tell you in our analysis!

The presentation of the Corsair MM700 RGB 3XL comes to us in a gigantic  rectangular box in corporate yellow, an image of the product on its cover and the model in question well silkscreened.

In the left corner it specifies the dimensions of the mat and all its novelties. While in the rear section we can see all the technical specifications in numerous languages.

Once we open the packaging we find the mat rolled up inside a plastic bag and with a cardboard inside so that it does not sag while it is stored. We also have a separate USB C to normal USB cable .

More freedom thanks to its EXTRA LARGE design

Corsair MM700 RGB 3XL has dimensions of 1220 x 610 x 4 mm , reaching a total weight of more than 1.5 kg due to the density of the fabric and its combination with the rear rubber cover . We are facing a landscape design with a satin black finish. This is designed to cover almost the entirety of our workspace and place all our main peripherals on it: keyboard, mouse, headphone stand or a Stream Deck.

The Corsair logo is stamped in white in the lower right corner . It has a plastic texture that makes it tactilely different from the fabric, especially because it has a little relief. Unlike the MM700 RGB we reviewed a few years ago, it doesn’t feature an extra logo in the bottom left corner. Nothing relevant, since today the simplest is the best.

All the edges are completely covered by a silicone band in which the RGB LEDs are inside. In turn, this band is sewn with transparent colored synthetic thread to the same fabric. The final finish is perceived as resistant , with a minimal rise in front of the body of the mat.

A small module for the cable and the two auxiliary USB-A ports is installed in the upper right corner . Its dimensions are 60 x 40 x 13 mm and it is made of a classic plastic with a matte black finish. As expected, the corners are completely  beveled and right in the center we can see the Corsair logo made with double injection, so it is backlit and 100% customizable .

Right at the rear of the design is the USB-C port for the removable cable that will provide RGB lighting, while next to it there is a small circular button with which we can quickly establish up to twelve different color profiles .

On the other hand, on the front and right side is where we will find the auxiliary USB-A ports ready for use. None of them have a specific use, although they are clearly focused on connecting peripherals such as storage units. Keep in mind that all USB connections are reinforced with PVC covers .

Wiring and commissioning

One of the aspects that we like the most is that its power cable is removable . We are facing a plastic model with a length of 180 cm and approximately 3mm in diameter . From the start it does not offer great flexibility, and we really miss that its coverage was of higher quality.

Now comes the important thing… it’s time to get into the user experience we’ve had during these weeks. Once extended , the mat rises about 4mm above the table surface. Its micro fiber fabric is soft , comfortable and does not transfer cold. It also has a slightly low friction rate when moving the mouse across its surface.

As we have mentioned, the texture of the fabric is reasonably soft inside the cloth mousepads, so the handling of the mouse on its surface is fast and efficient . We have used our K70 PRO OPX RGB mechanical keyboard launched a few weeks ago and a mouse that we cannot present to you at the moment and therefore does not appear in the image. The positive thing about having such a large mouse pad is that our forearms will be able to rest on the padded surface of the mouse pad instead of the table, something that is very comfortable if you spend many hours in front of a computer.

RGB lighting. Does it really impress?

As everyone knows, the more RGB, the more FPS we will have on our computer (just kidding!). The Corsair MM700 RGB 3XL ‘s 360º dynamic RGB lighting is nice, intense enough and highly customizable transitions when the iCUE software kicks in. We will briefly talk about this application in the next section.

The control button located on the upper module allows us to switch between twelve RGB lighting modes in which color changes are combined in the band that surrounds the carpet and the Corsair logo, but for all those who know this to Soon, iCUE comes to the rescue .

Software iCUE

One of the great advantages of having an RGB mousepad is being able to synchronize it with your peripherals . The Corsair MM700 RGB 3XL was not going to do less, and it brings us three configurable zones thanks to its Corsair iCUE V4 application. That you can download from the Corsair download area.

In these lighting layers we can choose different effects, from the rainbow wave, spectrum, impulse, wave of color or customize to the rhythm of the music or game . We can also adjust a quick lighting zone or establish settings for each profile.

As expected, we can customize the intensity of the brightness and update your firmware to the latest version available. What a nice job from Corsair!

Final words and conclusions about Corsair MM700 RGB 3XL

We have come to the end of this brief review of the Corsair MM700 RGB 3XL mouse pad . We came across an extra-large gaming mousepad, the largest we’ve tested by far, and with high-end build quality.

With a fabric design , silicone edges with a 360º RGB lighting system inside, a module that allows us to change between 12 profiles and have two extra connections in HUB mode .

In our daily experience: work, sporadic daily play in shooters is excellent. When you combine it with Corsair peripherals: keyboard, mouse, headphones, monitor, etc… it becomes the icing on the cake that the set-up was missing.
