Momentum is a controversial topic in World of Warcraft. Should it be allowed? Should it be strictly prohibited? We want your opinion.
There are many topics in World of Warcraft that the community disagrees with. This is not surprising, after all, Blizzard’s MMORPG attracts different types of players. While some like PvE, others love RPGs, PvP, or just collecting achievements. But almost nothing in WoW is discussed as wildly as the topic of momentum.
What is boost? Boost can mean various activities in MMORPGs, but in most cases it is an experienced gamer supporting an inexperienced gamer and thus bringing rewards that he would not have been able to achieve without this help.
This can be a low-level character that can be dragged through dungeons by an experienced player so that he can gain experience points quickly.
But that can also be a full raid party offering to take a player with them for a certain sum to be there when they kill particularly lucrative bosses and get hits, mounts, or other loot.
There is also that in PvP. Here, 2-4 players help increase the PvP rating. This gives you access to strong weapons and solid gear, which is also useful in PvE.
These services are offered primarily against gambling gold and are therefore also legally and explicitly permitted. However, there is also an illegal impulse, in which real money flows; if this is discovered, participants generally receive a ban.
This survey is specifically about endgame momentum, that is, achieving particular success in PvE (such as a Mythic kill) or PvP, often in relation to hefty rewards.
Blizz thinks it’s fine, as long as no real money flows.
Momentum Divides Players: WoW’s player base is divided when it comes to empowering. Just yesterday we reported on a well-known streamer who openly admits that he got a boost in PvP to be able to play more effectively in PvE. She was harshly criticized for this and was retained months later.
Boost in WoW: pros and cons
What are the advantages of boosting? Boost offer users and providers have a number of arguments in favor of boost. This includes:
- Boost as a source of income: Many players do not like to farm gold in the conventional way. Boost is a way to earn gold by helping other players with something that is fun for you. It is a win-win situation.
- Use for Gold: Rich players can use gold to buy things they really want and thus have a use for their great treasure.
Also, WoW is a social game that often requires the help of other players. Asking a sorcerer for an enchantment and paying it would also not be called empowering. In both cases, the client is buying player skills that he does not have himself.
What speaks against the urge? You read the arguments against the drive over and over again. The most important are:
- Pay2Win: For some it is a direct form of “Pay2Win”, since you can buy WoW gold with WoW brands and use it to pay for the power-ups.
- Devaluation of prestige – Some achievements and items in WoW are rare and only intended for the best players. Buying this reward devalues it.
Finally, especially in WoW, advertising to drive offers is also a problem. Many chat channels are just cluttered with it, and in numerous cases the group finder is misused for this as well. In the case of the group finder, however, this is not allowed, so these groups can also be reported.
