Biphobia

Biphobia is the rejection of bisexual people or bisexuality in general, claiming that people should be attracted to one or the other sex , but never to both at the same time. That is, biphobic are all those who believe that the person must necessarily be attracted to only one sex, either the opposite or the same.

Origin

This rejection comes from two types of public, the long-time conservative heteros , who also reject homosexuality and all its variants. This biphobia also occurs between Gays and Lesbians , who do not conceive that the same person can be attracted to a person regardless of their sex. Therefore a dichotomous decision is required , a ” meat or fish “, but never both.

ID

Biphobic people are easily detectable as they claim that bisexuals are promiscuous or that they help spread disease (which is also false, diseases spread through ignorance or lack of means, not because of sexual orientation).

Biphobic stereotypes

Biphobic stereotypes include, but are not limited to, promiscuity , polygamy , partner swapping, being confused, or being libidinous . From this stereotype derives the one according to which a bisexual person could have sex with anyone.

Often, biphobics add more stereotypes based on homophobia . Homophobes may think that bisexuals are not comfortable with their biological sex. Gays sometimes view bisexuals as maintaining their reputations and collaborating with homophobes while simultaneously enjoying gay life. Some consider biphobic the belief that people are divided between heterosexuals and homosexuals, and that therefore bisexuality does not exist.
