Antiprism

Anti-prism . Term used in the elementary geometry of space to name a certain type of polyhedron .

Definition

It is a convex polyhedron with two opposite parallel faces, which are regular polygons , which it calls bases; the other faces are isosceles triangles .

Layout and terminology

Each vertex of one base is, of course, joined by isolongitudinal lateral edges to two vertices of the other base.

The same word is also used for similar polyhedra, although the bases are not regular polygons and even the lateral faces were not isosceles triangles, thus calling the first “regular straight antiprisms”.

If the bases are regular polygons and the side faces are equilateral triangles, the antiprism is said to be a semi- regular polyhedron .

Quantity of items

  • Face both bases and side faces, if the base has n sides there are two 2n side sides.
  • Edges: at the base 2n and on the side faces 2n
  • Vertices: 2n at the two bases.
  • C + V = A + 2
