Why Did Allah (God) Send Prophets?

A meaningful book requires the teacher to understand and teach its meanings. Universe is a book. Each creature is a phrase, a word or a letter. Ranging from atoms to the sun, each creature hides numerous and precious meanings behind the art, composition, system and design embroidered and placed on them. What are the mysteries that the universe whispers to humanity? What do all these creatures, events, births and deaths, changes in the universe, abundance without waste, infinite rewards and concessions mean? The creator who created this significant book will, of course, send “prophets” as teachers to read, understand, teach and explain the sacred and mysterious meanings of this wonderful universe for humanity.

Wisdom requires that every human being definitely ask and ask the questions “What are we? Where did we come from in this world? Where are we going? Why are we here? ”Every intelligent and rational being wants the answers to these questions. But who knows the answers? Who knows, except the Lord and the Creator of Kingdoms and lives? As much as Allah knows all these answers, He will certainly notify humanity of these high goals set in the universe and, of course, he will choose the most illustrious individuals as “Prophets” for this sacred mission.

If the prophets had not been sent, people would have a hard time choosing between right and wrong and finding the truth, good and most beneficial. It would take a long time to learn through experience and error and they would probably fail in the end. Then Allah, with His infinite Mercy and Grace, sent the prophets as guides of the straightest path for human beings.

Allah said:

“[WE SENT] MESSENGERS BY SOLICITORS AND ADMONISHERS, SO THAT THERE WOULD BE NO REASONING ON THE PART OF HUMANS BEFORE ALLAH AFTER THE MESSENGERS CAME. AND ALLAH IS ALMIGHTY, WISE. ” [HOLY QURAN 4: 165]

Allah is the most compassionate, so He doesn’t want human beings to do wrong. So, He sent prophets to inform and teach people about the mistakes and damage that would damage their lives both in this world and in the hereafter. Human beings who persist in error will be held accountable and taken into account on Judgment Day. If Allah had not sent any prophets, people would have objected and said, “We did not know. Nobody warned us against wrong and showed right. If they had, we would have chosen exactly the right one. This account is unfair!

The prophets guide humanity not only in the spiritual aspect, but they were also the guides and teachers about civilization, cultural and social progress and artistic, commercial, agricultural and other occupations. For example, Prophet Noah is the expert of shipbuilders. Prophet Joseph is the specialist for watchmakers and Prophet Enoch is the specialist for tailors. That is, humanity needs prophets not only for religious purposes, faith and morality; but also for materialistic and worldly progress.
