All additional dialogue in The Last of Us: Part 1

The location of all the characters with whom you can talk in the game, learn more about the world and events

Additional dialogues are what you have already thought about. During the passage of The Last of Us: Part 1, you will be able to call up several dozen optional conversations with various NPCs. There are over 40 such dialogues in the main storyline, and 12 more in the Left Behind story expansion. All these additional conversations do not affect the game’s story or relationships with the characters. With their help, you will learn more about the game world and the people who inhabit it. Below you can find the full list of additional dialogues in the game

Additional Dialogue #1 (Chapter: “Quarantine Zone” – Episode “20 Years Later”)

At the beginning of the video for this chapter, Joel and Tess agree to go looking for Robert. When both walk down the street, you will find yourself on a path with many army jeeps. This is a FEDRA checkpoint. Opposite him, look for a man and a woman standing near the red box, right in front of the wall. Approach them and talk about the victims of the Cicadas.

Additional Dialogue #2 (Chapter: “Quarantine Zone” – Episode “Beyond the Wall”)

After you take away the backpack and weapons, Joel and Tess will leave the abandoned cafe. When Tess is outside, follow the woman and stop in front of the door. Talk to her about the relationship between the two characters.

Additional Dialogue #3 (Chapter: “Quarantine Zone” – Episode “Beyond the Wall”)

In the course of the story, Joel and Tess will stumble upon an abandoned house with many rotten corpses. Inside the building, enter the room with a hole in the wall. Crouch down and make your way through it. Moving on your haunches, you will find a rotten dead body on your right hand. Talk to Tess about him.

Additional Dialogue #4 (Chapter: “Quarantine Zone” – Episode “Cargo”)

As you, Marlin, and Tess move through the buildings in this chapter, the squad will soon reach a bridge where FEDRA guards are stationed. Kill all the patrolmen and find the corpse of the Cicada activist on the bridge. Talk to Marlene about the dead fighter.

Additional Dialogue #5 (Chapter: “Outskirts” – Episode “Outside”)

At the beginning of the Outskirts chapter, you need to follow Tess. When you get to the room where the woman stops and looks out the window, move closer. You can tell her that Marlene’s group lost a lot of people.

Additional Dialogue #6 (Chapter: “Outskirts” – Episode “Downtown”)

After escaping the patrolling soldiers along with Tess and Ellie, the group will go to a large building on the left side. This is the so-called. Goldstone building. When you go through the front door, you will find a dead soldier lying against the wall. Wait for Tess and you can talk to her about how the soldiers were killed. Don’t forget to turn on your flashlight so you don’t miss the corpse as dusk falls.

Additional Dialogue #7 (Chapter: “Outskirts” – Episode “Museum”)

Once Ellie and Tess are in the large gallery of the museum where American heroes are on display, wait for Tess to come to the broken window and stop near it. She will say the phrase “Damn it!” or something like that. Quickly approach and talk to her about how she manages to hold on. At the top of the museum there will be a room with many infected. This will happen just before you get to a large gallery where this additional conversation can take place.

Additional Dialogue #8 (Chapter: “Outskirts” – Episode “Museum”)

After Joel asks how Tess is doing, do not rush to leave, otherwise you will miss the next side conversation. While chatting with Tess in the gallery, you might notice that Ellie was standing nearby. After you complete the conversation with Tess, she will point to the exit that leads to the roof. Don’t rush to follow her. Turn to Ellie and you will get a hint that you can talk to the girl and ask how she is doing.

Additional Dialogue #9 (Chapter: “Bill’s Town” – Episode “The Forest”)

After pushing Ellie through the locked gate, she, in turn, will open it from the other side, and you can go further. You will see a two-story house with a blue awning and a wooden pole in front. Enter the house, find the slot machine on the left. Wait until Ellie comes in next, and go to the machine. When she is near, you can talk to her.

Additional Dialogue #10 (Chapter: “Bill’s Town” – Episode “Hideout”)

While in Bill’s hideout inside the church, go to the table with the chessboard on the left side. Once you find him, move closer and interact. As a result, Ellie will come up and talk to you about chess. You can also find the first tutorial here (if you haven’t already done so). It is at the end of the counter, next to where Bill is standing.

Additional Dialogue #11 (Chapter: “Bill’s Town” – Episode “Cemetery”)

After Joel, Bill, and Ellie make their way past the pool and backyard treehouse into the building, head up the stairs to the second floor of the apartment building. Wait for Ellie to follow. When she approaches you, she will ask if you have a minute to talk. Follow her to the children’s room on the right side. Talk to her in the room and she will want to apologize for her behavior in the past. Go back to the corridor you were in earlier before entering the children’s room. Directly in front of the stairs on the left side are two washing machines. Look into them to find useful supplies.

Extra Dialogue #12 (Chapter: “Bill’s Town” – Episode “High School Escape”)

When Bill asks to search Frank’s house, go to the kitchen and look for an open door leading to the bedroom. On the left side of the bedroom is a white table with a note from Frank. Pick it up, return to Bill and pass the note. There is a first aid kit on the left side of the white table. Take it away, because you will face a difficult battle.

Extra Dialogue #13 (Chapter: “Bill’s Town” – Episode “High School Escape”)

After you finish communicating with Bill, move to the pickup truck, inside of which Ellie is sitting. You can talk to her about how she feels in the car.

Additional Dialogue #14 (Chapter: “Pittsburgh” – Episode “All Alone”)

After you fight the hunters, Ellie will help you open the steel garage door. When both of you are inside, you will see a pile of shoes and clothes near the table, next to the dead man. Ellie will walk up to a bunch of things. Do the same to have an opportunity to discuss how people survived after the epidemic.

Additional Dialogue #15 (Chapter: “Pittsburgh” – Episode “All Alone”)

Joel and Ellie need to get out of the hunters’ camp and out into the alley between the camp and the Pittsburgh Bridge. Walk forward down the street. Follow the abandoned bus and pickup truck. Soon you will find a car located on the right side. She will have an open door. there is a corpse with one leg in the driver’s seat, the rest of the body lying on the ground outside. Approach the torso and you can talk about who you think killed this man.

Additional Dialogue #16 (Chapter: “Pittsburgh” – Episode “All Alone”)

After Joel and Ellie fight some of the hunters and pass the bus they used earlier, you will see a checkpoint. On the wall on the right side there is a red inscription “Stop feeding us lies. Give us our rations.” Wait a bit for Ellie to come up here and see this graffiti. When this happens, discuss what it all means.

Additional Dialogue #17 (Chapter: “Pittsburgh” – Episode “All Alone”)

After the cutscene in which Joel notices the hunters walking along the plank to the hotel, turn around and head back down the flooded street. On the right side is a Laron’s Shop with broken windows. Next to the door, look for an advertising board that shows a white girl. Move towards it and wait for Ellie to come here. When she says the girl is too skinny, you can talk to her about how much food you have left.

Additional Dialogue #18 (Chapter: “Pittsburgh” – Episode “Hotel Lobby”)

When you enter the hotel, you will find yourself near scaffolding. Turn around and go to the open passage on the left side. There will be a chair in front. Walk towards it to find coffee cups, jugs, and a microwave. There is a coffee maker in the middle of the shelf. It’s been a long time since Joel last drank coffee, so you can talk about it.

Additional Dialogue #19 (Chapter: “Pittsburgh” – Episode “Hotel Lobby”)

Go up to the third floor of the hotel. Find number 206. Turn around to see a red fire extinguisher hanging on the wall. Approach it and turn to the right side. Find room 204. Go inside and go past the glass door at the other end of the room. After leaving the room, turn left and jump into the window on the left. You will find that the roof of the room has collapsed. Climb onto the bed, grab onto the closet on the side, and jump up to the top floor through the hole in the ceiling. Go through the door and turn to the broken wall on the left. The hole leads to the bathroom, and two corpses lie in the bath itself. Wait for Ellie to come here and discuss with her that both people bled together in the same bath.

Additional Dialogue #20 (Chapter: “Pittsburgh” – Episode “Hotel Lobby”)

After you leave the basement of the hotel, you will find yourself in the corridor, where you will find a hanger on the right side, a little further and to the left – two tables. Move past them and enter the large open door marked “Ballroom A”. Turn right and go to the far corner of the room. Wait for Ellie to come up to you and discuss the image in the background.

Additional Dialogue #21 (Chapter: “Pittsburgh” – Episode “Financial District”)

After Joe and Ellie kill the hunters in the Financial District, there will be two trees to the left and right. Go to the tree on the right side. You will find a hanged man with his hands tied behind his back. Wait for Ellie to come closer. When she does, you will be able to share your opinion.

Additional Dialogue #22 (Chapter: “Pittsburgh” – Episode “Financial District”)

On the road outside, on the right side of the food warehouse building, there is an armored tank. Take a look at the brick wall opposite the tank, where graffiti is depicted with the inscription “Death for Freedom”. Several corpses lie on the ground right under the graffiti. Talk to Ellie about how the dead used to have families.

Additional Dialogue #23 (Chapter: “Pittsburgh” – Episode “Financial District”)

After you lead Ellie past the fire escape in the food warehouse, you both have to go down from the building to the roof of the bus, and then to the common area. A few feet ahead you will see a building to the right. Go to him and wait for Ellie to leave the bus to meet you. Read the sign on the gate of the Military Preparatory School building and Ellie will tell you more about it.

Additional Dialogue #24 (Chapter: “Pittsburgh” – Episode “Financial District”)

After Joel and Ellie discuss military school, turn around and look in the opposite direction. You will see three abandoned cars. Above the building, where the abandoned cars are parked, there is a billboard of an old movie with the inscription “Dawn of the Wolf, Part 2”. Talk to Ellie about seeing a similar ad before the outbreak.

Additional Dialogue #25 (Chapter: “Suburb” – Episode “Suburb”)

After the sewers, when you go outside, keep walking until you find a road that goes to the right. Before you turn there, look for a barely visible white wooden house. There is graffiti on the house with a red inscription “I am armed. Do not enter. I will shoot.” Approach the graffiti and wait until Ellie and Henry are nearby. Henry will remember how things went wrong and Joel will join the conversation.

Additional Dialogue #26 (Chapter: “Suburb” – Episode “Suburb”)

After examining the white wooden house above, move forward along the street. You will find an ice cream truck. Wait until Henry and Ellie get to this place and start arguing about the truck. When they are ready, Ellie will ask for your opinion.

Additional Dialogue #27 (Chapter: “Suburb” – Episode “Suburb”)

After leaving the sewers, find the last house at the end of the street. It is in this house that a safe with a combination lock is hidden. Once inside, start collecting various supplies before the side conversation becomes available. When you’re done looting, go to the living room on the first floor, where you will meet Ellie and Sam playing darts. Wait for them to finish and play darts so you can discuss the game with Henry and Ellie.

Extra Dialogue #28 (Chapter: “Tommy Dam” – Episode “Hydroelectric”)

After Joel and Ellie raise the gate and cross the water on the dam, jump down the stairs on the left side into an area filled with weeds and flowers. Walking a little forward, you will find a log blocking the path. Jump over it to find a grave with a doll. Wait for Ellie to come here and tell about the grave.

Additional Dialogue #29 (Chapter: “Tommy Dam” – Episode “Hydroelectric”)

When Tommy and Maria guide you around the dam, you will reach the place where the horses are kept. Ellie will be delightedly surprised that the group has horses. She will approach the horse and stroke it. While she’s busy, you can talk to Ellie about whether she’s ever ridden a horse.

Extra Dialogue #30 (Chapter: “Tommy Dam” – Episode “Hydroelectric”)

When Joel and Tommy separate from Ellie, the brother will escort the protagonist to the bunk beds. Follow him where he says he has something for Joel. While he searches the bag, you can discuss this.

Extra Dialogue #31 (Chapter: “Tommy Dam” – Episode “Hydroelectric”)

When you’re done with Tommy, follow him outside. Both of you will walk past a guy trying to pull a tree root out of a turbine. There will be a right turn ahead. When you go to the right side, you will see a generator. There is a woman ahead with a rifle. Approach her and start an additional conversation.

Extra Dialogue #32 (Chapter: “The University” – Episode “Gaudeamus”)

You and Ellie will get to the university on horseback. You need to lead your horse and overcome the barricade outside the gate. On the left side is a building with a banner that says “Welcome back, bighorns”. Go there and examine the banner. Interact with him and Ellie will give her opinion on Gaudeamus.

Additional Dialogue #33 (Chapter: “The University” – Episode “Gaudeamus”)

On the territory of the university there is a square in the courtyard with a statue in the center. Look for a blue dumpster next to several steps. Turn left after the steps and ride along this road on horseback with Ellie. Keep moving until two black birds fly past you. Look to the left to find the Cicada symbol on the wall. Come closer to discuss it with Ellie. The moment you walk past the Cicada symbol, Ellie will pay attention to it.

Extra Dialogue #34 (Chapter: “University” – Episode “Science Center”)

Once you and Ellie are inside the science center, you will have to go out of the corridor through the door marked “Room 251 – Main Atrium”. It leads to the lobby, where you will find a notebook on plastic boxes. Come closer and discuss with Ellie.

Additional Dialogue #35 (Chapter: “Lake Resort” – Episode “The Hunt”)

After escaping the clickers across the bridge, you will reach the elevator in the mining camp. Turn to the right side to find steps that lead to the upper level of the room. Move there. Approach the first corpse you see and tell David about what you saw.

Extra Dialogue #36 (Chapter: “Car Park” – Episode “Exit Highway”)

When Joel and Ellie are walking along the highway with abandoned cars, you can miss the moment when a hint appears, indicating the possibility of additional dialogue. It’s easy to miss! Usually conversations with Ellie begin without prompts. Just keep your eyes on her. While the conversation is going on, at some point it will be possible to press a key to ask what the girl thinks about it.

Extra Dialogue #37 (Chapter: “Car Park” – Episode “Exit Highway”)

After you leave the freeway, you will see a long bus with airplane advertisements on the side wall. Wait for Ellie to come here. When this happens, you will hear that the girl dreamed of flying last night. Stand next to her and discuss this dream.

Extra Dialogue #38 (Chapter: “Car Park” – Episode “Exit Highway”)

When you go to the car park and find yourself in the depot, wait until Ellie enters next. She will come forward and sit down on a brick bench. While she’s there, go up to the girl and ask if she’s okay.

Extra Dialogue #39 (Chapter: “Car Park” – Episode “Exit Highway”)

After you help Ellie get out of the car park to the next building, meet the giraffe. Get closer and interact with the animal.

Extra Dialogue #40 (Chapter: “Car Park” – Episode “Exit Highway”)

After the cut-scene in which Ellie pets the giraffe, the girl will run to the top floor. Follow her. While she’s leaning against the concrete block, join her to watch the herd of giraffes move.

Extra Dialogue #41 (Chapter: “Car Park” – Episode “Exit Highway”)

After passing the sorting area filled with large and small tents, you will find an abandoned container with tires. Ahead is the main car park. Walk past the tires and head towards the city bus with the doors open. A bus covered in leaves blocks the way to the main road. When you get closer to the bus, Ellie will turn to Joel and say that she has something for her friend. Turn to her and talk about what she stole from Tommy’s dam.

After you receive a message that Marlene is wanted, Ellie and Riley will enter a room with a hole in the wall and a broken roof. Turn on the flashlight and look at the wall near the bed. You will see the cicada symbol. You can interact with him and ask Riley about her group affiliation.

Later, the plot will take Ellie and Riley to the first escalators in the mall. Walk down and turn right. To the right of the generator there is a path that goes down, with the inscription “Garage”. Follow her. On the left, look for a large billboard with a picture about vacations and travel. Interact with him to ask Riley if she’s going on vacation.

Exit the tent and look forward to the bench under the tree. Approach it to find a saddle for a horse. Discuss this with Riley.

While in the Halloween Costume Shop, after the cut-scene in which Ellie and Riley playfully growl at each other using scary masks, move forward and down until you see a red coffin against the wall on the left side. Turn right to the shelving where the three Gourd Pumpkin Heads are stored. Interact with the jar filled with fake eyeballs and located on the left side of the shelf.

Progress through the story until Riley takes off her green mask and puts on another one that resembles a vampire with sharp teeth and a mouth full of blood. After that, you can talk to her.

Go to the middle aisle in the Halloween Costume Shop and pick up the green witch mask. It is to the left of where Riley dropped the green mask. After you get it, you can try to scare Riley with it.

Go to the exit of the store. In the left corner, look for the dove mask on the shelf. After putting it on, Riley will surprise Ellie with a new mask. After Riley thanks for the comment about her new mask, you’ll notice a purple skull fold-out card. Ask the questions at least eight times to complete the optional dialogue.

When the chapter “Jokes and Pranks” starts, go to the carousel. Jump on the carousel and talk to Riley.

Extra Dialogue #12 (Chapter: “Jokes and Pranks” – Episode “ShareSnap Phone Booth”)

There are several steps on the right side of the carousel. They lead to the ShareSnaps photo booth. Go inside it to start the last conversation.
