Biographical synthesis

He was born on November 19, 1983, in San Diego, California, United States. At age seven, he moved with his mother to the town of Mishawaka , Indiana , where he grew up receiving a religious education singing in the church choir. After the divorce of their parents, both remarried.

His childhood was very strict, because his stepfather was a Baptist minister; his stepmother was a worker at the Arkansas State Library in Little Rock.

Military Service and Education

He attended Mishawaka High School, graduating in 2001 . He participated in various school plays and also sang in the choir.

Following the September 11 attacks , he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps , where he remained for two years and eight months before sustaining an injury while mountain biking. He broke his sternum about three months before his unit was deployed to Iraq .

He subsequently attended Indiana University for a year and entered the Juilliard School to study acting. He was a member of the Drama Division’s Group 38 ( 2005 – 2009 ), along with his future wife Joanne Tucker. He graduated Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2009 and began acting in New York City , both on Broadway and off-Broadway, occasionally working as a busboy.

Career path

He appeared in the television movie You Don’t Know Jack ( 2010 ) in series such as The Unusuals or Law and Order and some short films. His big screen debut was in the Clint Eastwood J. Edgar film (2011), the following year he gained popularity working on the hit HBO comedy series Girls, playing Adam Sackler, the protagonist’s boyfriend. His work was recognized with three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

In addition to starring in the short film Not Waving But Drowning and the film Gayby, he had a leading role in two critically acclaimed films of 2012 ; the first as Samuel Beckwith in the film Lincoln, by Steven Spielberg, and as Lev Shapiro in Frances Ha. In 2013, he acted in the films Bluebird, The F Word, Inside Llewyn Davis playing the musician Al Cody in the brothers film Coen, and as photographer Rick Smolan on Tracks.

In 2014 , she worked on the Italian film Hungry Hearts, This Is Where I Leave You, and While We’re Young J, starring Naomi Watts and Ben Stiller. For his role in Hungry Hearts, Driver won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the Venice International Film Festival.

In February 2014, it was reported that in 2015 Driver would play Kylo Ren in one of the most profitable and successful sagas in cinema acting in the movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which was released on December 17, 2015.

In 2016, he played scientist Paul Sevier in the movie Midnight Special. That same year he played the role of priest Francisco Garrpe in the film Silence directed by Martin Scorsese and presented the film Paterson. In 2017, he reprized his role as Kylo Ren in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

In 2018, he was the Jewish police detective, Flip Zimmerman, in Spike Lee’s comedy-drama BlackkKlansman . He also had the role of Toby Grisoni in Terry Gilliam’s adventure comedy The Man Who Killed Don Quixote.
