Chapter 1

After the introductory video, you will control a ginger cat who is surrounded by his relatives. Interact with the rest of the kittens by getting close and clicking on the “triangle”. As soon as you do this with three kittens, they will move to the couch, and you can join them to wait out the bad weather. When you wake up, the whole cat family will go downstairs using large rusty pipes.

Walkthrough Stray – game guide

When you regain control of the hero, follow the ledges or platforms within reach. You will see a small “X” (or “Space”) indicating where you can jump if you press the specified button (key). There are no free jumps in the game! you can also press “circle” (or ALT) to make the hero start meowing. This gesture will allow you to distract enemies or find clues in the future. As soon as you go up the stairs, you will see a small tree, which one of the cats will start scratching. Click on the “triangle” and alternate between the L2 and R2 buttons to sharpen the claws. If you do this with all the scratching posts, you will get an additional achievement. We talk about this in a separate guide.

Walkthrough Stray – game guide

Keep walking forward until you see a fence. Look to the right at the raised ramp and jump onto it. You can drink the water from the puddles, but there are no achievements associated with this action, and it is generally meaningless. Drop down to the bottom pipe and jump over it to keep going until you pass the barrels and see a large watershed with platforms on either side. Jump down-left and keep following the cat family. Either go up the ramp on the left, or jump down the pipes to get to the platform on the right. When you reach a set of smaller pipes, hold X (or “Space”) to make several jumps in a row.

Walkthrough Stray – game guide

When you reach the end of the watershed, follow the water path through a small narrow passage. There will be another big watershed ahead: hold R2 to take a closer look. Look for hanging channels and jump between them to get to the lower platform on the left side and get close to the broken pipe. Try to jump.

Chapter 2

When the protagonist wakes up from the fall, the kitten will still be injured. You can walk forward a little until you pass out. A little later, you will wake up again and be able to go outside through a large raised gate. There is nothing else to do inside the tunnel. This will take you to the Dead City – a lifeless place that lives up to its name. Climb to the green dumpster on the right, by the fence, and jump over to the other side, using the store’s visor. The surveillance camera will not do anything to you, so feel free to go down.

Walkthrough Stray – game guide

Continue past the broken robot until you spot a sparkling sign with an arrow pointing in the right direction. Go there, move down the stairs to a small pool and go to the right side. Jump on the floating barrels, go right and make your way through the narrow opening. From now on, you will see more imposing signs that tell you where to go. Follow through a small hole in the wall with broken ventilation.

How to stop the fan in the Dead City?

There will be a few items on the floor in the large room, and the pipes along the far wall are good for jumping onto a higher platform where there is a large spinning fan. It blocks forward movement. To continue, go down and click on the “triangle” to pick up a metal bucket. Lift it up and throw it on the slope in front of the spinning fan to stop it. Make your way through it and look for cans of paint on the roof. You can drop them down. After doing this, you will be able to jump over to the opposite roof, where there is a TV, indicating that you should move down. To make a new path, jump up and drop a can of paint on the glass ceiling. Jump inside the room. Be sure to use the claws inside the room (if you want to earn the achievement).

Walkthrough Stray – game guide

Follow the signs behind the doorway and make your way under the boarded up door to find a large bucket that you can jump into and go down (like an elevator). When you do this, your main opponents will appear – Zurks. You don’t need to run away just yet. In the next area, a dying robot will start crawling towards you. You can interact with him. Move up the sign, use the dumpster, and squeeze into the narrow passage. When you go outside, a large horde of Zurks will appear, and now you have to run away from them. Hold R2 or Shift and don’t stop. If the Zurks manage to jump on the kitten, press ALT (or “circle”) to throw them off their backs. Follow the luminous signs. At the end of the path, jump into the open window on the left side.

Walkthrough Stray – game guide

You will be able to get an achievement if you manage to get away from the chase without taking damage. this can be done in different places.

There are several monitors in the safe room, all of which feature a kitten’s head. Use the meow to light up the lights that show the way. Climb up the stairs and exit onto the rooftops. This time, stay above ground level and use the pipes, awnings, and fans to follow exclusively on top until you reach the large roof on the left. When you see a large sign pointing up, find your way to the left first. Look for a large wooden plank leaning against the roof and push it so it falls down along the scaffolding. So you will create a bridge and you can get to another roof.

Walkthrough Stray – game guide

Walk across the rooftop to see a sign pointing to a basketball hoop. Go there and see a glowing blue window. Get inside! Leaving the apartment on another roof, look at the sign that suggests climbing higher. Find an empty barrel and go inside, then roll it to the right side. Use the barrel to jump up and continue moving. Once on the far rooftop, drop down to the lower level next to the yellow vending machine and follow the scaffolding to jump onto the nearest wooden plank. It will collapse, but you will not fall into the abyss.

Walkthrough Stray – game guide

When you run into a barrier, return the same way you came here to find another suspended channel and go to the other side of the abyss. Jump to the illuminated sign and then to another scaffolding and climb up to a higher level. Push another wooden plank to create a new bridge. Continue along the scaffolding to the far rooftop and look for a ledge next to the security camera. When you jump up, notice a path of lights leading to a lighted sign. Make your way up using the various platforms and fans to reach the far building. Follow in the opposite direction to climb even higher until you find yourself on an illuminated sign. After passing through it, make your way between the bars of the lattice.

Walkthrough Stray – game guide

Inside the building, follow the narrow path to a room with a large fan. Look to the left and you will see a battery panel at the bottom of the wall. Pull it out to turn off the fan and enter the apartment.

Chapter 3. Accommodation

In this small apartment is the source of all the mysterious messages and luminous signs. Exit the bedroom to see a monitor with a security camera in which someone asks for help. Move around the keyboard on the table to try to reply to the message. After doing this several times, you will get a new target. In addition, in this place there is a carpet, on which you can and should sharpen your claws (for achievement). The door next to you is locked, so you need to go through another one (opened after the mysterious source sends some messages to the monitor).

How to find four batteries in an apartment?

There is a lot of junk in a large laboratory, and there is a console in the center. Under this console, look for four empty battery slots. You need to find all four batteries. Here is their location:

  1. Opposite the main console there is a small table littered with junk, and a battery is connected to its front.
  2. There is a large lever on the right wall. Jump on it to move the monitor stand to the left side. There is a second battery at the bottom of the stand.

Walkthrough Stray – game guide

  1. Jump up onto the shifted monitor stand and look on the shelves above for the third battery.
  2. Search the opposite wall with bookshelves, jump on a high chair and even higher to find the last battery.

Walkthrough Stray – game guide

Once all four batteries are connected, a secret door will open. Inside you will find a mysterious robot and several small monitors. Jump from the chair onto the robot’s head and it will fall off. This robot is not suitable. From it, jump onto the rack on the left side of the room and go to the box standing on the very edge. Drop it down to find the drone. Go back to the previous room. Jump to the main console and place the drone on the illuminated platform to download a creature that begs for help.

Walkthrough Stray – game guide

After the drone wakes up, you will learn its name – B-12. As a token of gratitude for the release, he will agree to accompany you through the Dead City. Follow B-12 to the nearest wall to find the key rack and the drone will digitize the key, which will go into inventory (click on the “square”). He will then equip you with a backpack that can be used as a drone recharging station. The inventory also has a section with memories, which we talked about in a separate guide.

Walkthrough Stray – game guide

What is the code for the apartment door?

Walkthrough Stray – game guide

Before you leave this place, you can look around the apartment one last time and hear B-12’s comments about some items (for example, an engineering diploma from the bedroom). When you’re ready to leave, go to the main door and use the B-12 to open it (interact with the red panel). In the hallway outside, there will be a locked door with a keypad to enter the code. In the same corridor, on the right side, there is an open doorway. Inside the room, look for a piano that you can jump on to examine the board. Throw down some objects, after which you will see a code combination in the corner of the board – 3748. Return to the keyboard and enter the code to return to the rooftops.

Walkthrough Stray – game guide

B-12 will point to a large illuminated elevator located in the distance. Apparently, this is the best way to leave the Dead City. Jump into the nearest bucket and ride to the far rooftop. Here you will automatically get the first B-12 memory. It cannot be missed, although others will have to be looked for.

Walkthrough Stray – game guide

To continue, walk past the Outside picture on the wall and down the stairs to another bucket with a “Safe Zone” sign. Get down on the bucket and run away from the Zurks. Jump onto the big green container at the end of the alley. Zurks can’t jump or climb high ground, so you’re completely safe now. Follow the pipes until you get to the Slums.
