Stavudine Medicine

Stavudine is an antiretroviral drug known commercially as Zeritavir.This oral drug is indicated for the treatment of AIDS, its action is to incorporate into the DNA of the virus and prevent its multiplication, which would make the immune system very weak and accessible to even more viruses and bacteria.

Stavudine indications

Severe HIV infection.

Stavudine Side Effects

Nausea; diarrhea; vomiting; abdominal pain; lack of appetite; joint pain; back pain; muscle pain; sweats; itching; eruption; difficulty breathing; weakness; fever; chills.

Stavudine Contraindications

Pregnancy Risk C ; lactating women; Hipersensibility to any of the formula’s components.

Stavudine Directions for Use

Oral use

Adults

  • 60 kg or more:Give 40 mg of stavudine every 12 hours.
  • Under 60 kg weight:Administer 30 mg of stavudine every 12 hours.

Children

  • Weighing 30 kg or more: Administer 30 mg of stavudine every 12 hours.
  • Under 30 kg Weight: Administer 1 mg Stavudine per kg weight every 12 hours.
