characteristics

If the spatula is stainless steel, it will guarantee a longer duration as well as its ease to clean the residues of the substances that we have used. This will give us a reliability of not contaminating the substances with which we work in the next tests. The quality of the spatula depends on the strength and flexibility of the blade. We have 2 types of spatula:

  • Narrow and flexible blade spatula: used for small surfaces.
  • Wide and flexible blade spatula: used for large surfaces

Components

The laboratory spatula consists of 2 parts:

  • A flat sheet of metal (may also be porcelain) whose edge is sharp.
  • A handle that can be metal, wood, or plastic.

Uses and applications

In laboratory work, it is very common to find the term spatula tip, which refers to an approximate amount of chemical, which can be taken in a single moment with the use of this laboratory instrument.

  • It is used to take small samples of powdered substances (or compounds) (generally granular) to carry out various operations such as: weighing, dissolving, etc.
  • Spatula “Steriplast” model: they allow a quick, comfortable and safe sampling and avoid contamination. Spatula for powder, granules, pastes. With fixed handle, ideal for taking samples from bags and containers or from the manufacturing process. The fixed tip also allows insertion into compact surfaces.
