General characteristics
Males are bright blue with several black spots on the abdomen. The head, including the eyes, is blue as well. The females are greyish with bluish or greenish reflections.
Habitat
It is normally found in the vicinity of water, leaning on plants. It is even possible to see them fly on sunny winter days.
Courtship and reproduction
They form tandems to breed and then, usually maintaining the tandem position, the female will lay eggs on plants below the surface of the water. For this she uses her ovipositor in the form of a blade, with which she makes a small opening in the plant and deposits the eggs there.

It is distributed throughout much of Australia and South and Southeast Asia: India , Sri Lanka , Bangladesh , China , Japan , Vietnam , Indonesia , Myanmar , Malaysia , Thailand , and the Philippines
