She was born in the City of Havana on August 10, 1937 , comes from a humble family and daughter of Manuel Piera Querol, and María Rocillo Gallego. She carried out her first studies up to the baccalaureate in Sciences and Letters at the Edison Institute in La Víbora; She enrolled in the Medicine degree in 1954 , in the third year of the degree, she worked as a Medicine student, alternating between the Casa de Socorros de Mantilla and the ” Juan Ruiz Serna ” Asylum, where she worked as a nurse.
She married in 1962 with Dr. Sergio Rabell Hernández . From 1962 to 1963 , she taught as an Undergraduate Pathology Instructor until this last year she graduated as a doctor at the University of Havana and she began as a Graduate Instructor of the specialty of Pathology .
Develops the vertical internship at the Manuel Piti Fajardo Hospital . A militia member since the beginning of the Revolution, she would be mobilized during the attack on Playa Girón to provide support at the Rampa blood bank in Havana and during the October Crisis , at the Camagüey Military Hospital . From 1978 to 1979 , she studied in the city of Berlin , where she obtained the scientific degree Candidate for Doctor of Science.

She began her working life at the Provincial Hospital of Santiago de Cuba as Head of Department, simultaneously as Regional Responsible and Head of the Chair of Pathological Anatomy, until 1967 after 2 years she returned to Havana. In the capital, she holds the position of Head of the Pathological Anatomy Service at “Covadonga”, today the Salvador Allende Hospital .
In 1971 he moved to the Pathology Department of the General Calixto García University Hospital . From 1972 to 1973 she taught courses to Cytology technicians , graduated from the Oncology Hospital (INOR) and in 1972 in Postgraduate courses on Gastroenterological Pathology at the Institute of Gastroenterology in Havana. That year, he would obtain the militancy of the PCC; Likewise, she was a founder of the CDR , FMC and MNR , and is a member of the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution .
He holds the Special Teaching Category of Professor of Merit of the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences of Havana since December 22 , 2008 . From 1998 to the present, he has served as a member of the Tribunal for the Promotion of Scientific Degrees in Diagnostic Means.
He taught pathological anatomy at the Aquino University in La Paz , Bolivia (2004-2005), and at the Technical University of Ambato in Ecuador (2005-2007).
