We have 3 AD104 GPUs and 2 AD103 GPUs , making it clear that the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER is a real beast. Just by looking at the CUDA Cores , RT Cores and Tensor Cores , you think that the NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti is going to be the only 100% replaceable GPU of the 5 models on display.

While we see scalability at the hardware level in the others, it seems that the RTX 4070 Ti is not convincing , even more so considering that it comes with 12 GB GDDR6X of VRAM . Therefore, it will be interesting to see the duels of the RTX 4070 SUPER vs 4070 Ti and the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER vs 4080.

Saying that the RTX 4070 SUPER, 4070 Ti and 4070 Ti SUPER have the same L2 cache , and the meaning seems to be commercial: if the 4070 Ti SUPER had 56 or 64 MB it would be a nuisance for the 4080. What’s more, you just have to see The measurements of the 4070 Ti SUPER are the same as the RTX 4080!

If we turn to consumption, the RTX 4070 Ti already smells like a corpse because it has less hardware than the SUPER model and consumes the same . In terms of price, we all agree that the SUPER models are more interesting.

Starting with the synthetic benchmarks chosen for the comparison of RTX 4070 vs 4070 SUPER vs 4070 Ti vs 4070 Ti SUPER vs 4080 are:

Fire Strike, Time Spy and Port Royal

We start with Fire Strike, a test with staggered performance except for the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER and normal 4070 Ti , which are very close even if the SUPER model manages to win. The same goes for Time Spy and Port Royal. For now, the expected evolution.

VRMark and V-Ray

Soon, we will remove VRMark because it does not give consistent results in many cases, such as the RTX 4080 losing in this test against an RTX 4070.

With V-Ray they do give us the clue that the RTX 4070 Ti may have problems with the RTX 4070 SUPER , which does suit us better.

Blender

In Blender 2.9, the shortest result is rewarded , measured in nanoseconds, and I must say that the RTX 4070 had to have some problems because it is not normal for it to finish rendering in 58.75 ns.

Gaming comparison: RTX 4070 vs 4070 SUPER vs 4070 Ti vs 4070 Ti SUPER vs 4080

We return with the 8 games without RT at the maximum graphic setting, that is, Ultra or High in many aspects. The only exception is Starfield, in which we have used DLSS 3 because it is an unruly game.

• DOOM Eternal: Ultra and Vulkan.
• Horizon Zero Dawn: High, TAA and DX12.

1080p

• Tomb Raider gives the award to the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, but with a minimal difference compared to the others; The RTX 4070 looks like it will be much further behind.
• DOOM surprises: the RTX 4070 Ti surpasses the SUPER , but there is a 3 FPS difference.
• Metro Exodusshows a scalable evolution, with almost no differences between the Ti SUPER and the RTX 4080.
• Control “uncontrols” the comparison,giving 1st position to the 4080 and 2nd to the normal Ti .
• Horizon awards the 4070 Ti SUPERand gives 2nd position to the RTX 4070 and 4070 SUPER.
• RDR 2 rewards the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER
• Assassin’s warnsthat the 4070 SUPER can eat the 4070 Ti.
• Starfield is the most consistent game in 1080p.

1440p

The small ones will be noticeable here because 12 GB becomes fair in Starfield , I’ll let you know. Quick conclusions I draw:

• The regular RTX 4070 looks like an RTX 4060 in this comparison.
• Doom Eternal continues to give 2nd position to the RTX 4070 Ti.
• This was where the RTX 4070 SUPER could hurt the 4070 Ti, but it hasn’t. It is still the 3rd GPU in 6 of the 8 games.
• The RTX 4070 Ti will not justify paying 150 or 200 euros moreto have an average of less than 10 FPS.
• I don’t even want to think what performance the RTX 4080 SUPER will show.

2160p

Here the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER should fly with the additional 4 GB , but we’ll see how it does:

• The RTX 4070 SUPER doesn’t even surpass the 4070 Ti.
• The RTX 4070 Ti SUPER improves on the Tienough to not buy it, so I understand why they discontinued it.
• I have the feeling that the RTX 4080should do much more in games other than DOOM or Tomb Raider.
• NVIDIA had these GPUs heavily tested before releasing them to create doubts about what to buy.

Let’s go with Ray Tracing, retesting 8 games with the following graphic settings:

• Shadow of the Tomb Raider: High RT and Balanced DLSS
• Metro Exodus: High RT and DLSS.
• Marvel’s Spiderman Remastered: RT Ultra, DLSS 3 Balanced and Frame Generation.
• Cyberpunk 2077: RT Ultra and DLSS 3 Performance.
• Far Cry 6: High RT without DLSS.
• Avatar Frontiers of Pandora : High RT and FSR 3 Balanced + Frame Generation.
• Forspoken: RT High, FSR 3 Balanced + Fluid Motion.
• Alan Wake 2: High, Medium RT and DLSS 3 Performance + Frame Generation.

1080p

I have several surprises to comment:

• The RTX 4070 Ti SUPER does not justify its output in the 1080p test, I hope it does in the following ones.
• Very irregular performance of the RTX 4080.
• Very close fight between the RTX 4070 SUPER vs RTX 4070 Ti,fulfilling what we said previously.
• Although the RTX 4070 is a very good GPU, it falls a bit far in some tests.
• Surprisingly, Cyberpunk 2077 should highlight more differences, but no.

1440p

Let’s see if having 16 GB matters that much:

• Very similar performances between the RTX 4070 Ti vs 4070 Ti SUPER.
• The RTX 4070 SUPER is confirmed to be the most interesting of the 3 new batchGPUs .
• Very tight FPS among the 3most powerful RTX 4070s.
• When there are very powerful graphics, the RTX 4080 wins without a problem.
• The 16 GB has not seemed to be so important when it comes to getting more FPS.

2160p

Last chance to close the debate of 8 vs 16 GB in QHD and 4K.

• Happiness goes by neighborhoods:
  • • Tomb Raider, Spiderman, Alan Wake and Forspoken take advantage of having more VRAM, the others do not.
    • The RTX 4070 SUPER falls a bit short of the RTX 4070 Ti
  • Don’t buy an RTX 4080 with a 4070 Ti SUPERon the market, I’ll leave it there.

For me, this comparison between the RTX 4070 vs 4070 SUPER vs 4070 Ti vs 4070 Ti SUPER vs 4080 disappoints me about the 4070 Ti SUPER , I thought what would be better!

Performance differences

The relative performance differences are clear:

• In 1080p we don’t see that much difference between the RTX 4070 Ti vs 4070 Ti SUPER, even less so with the 4070 SUPER.
• In QHDit is expanded a little more:
  • The 4070 SUPER is a great GPU, improving only 7% and 10% on models in the same range.
• In 4Kis where we see a slight boost to the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER proving to have 4 GB more VRAM, in addition to additional CUDA Cores.

Temperatures and consumption

Let me tell you that here we find consumption and temperatures that are more than praiseworthy: they do not exceed 63ºC at maximum load. Consumption is measured with a wattmeter , that is, it amounts to the entire PC, and the differences are notable.

• We saw that the RTX 4070 Ti SUPERwould consume the same as the Ti, but it consumes much less .
• The one that consumes the least is the RTX 4070 SUPER, against all odds.

Energy cost is a new variable that we measure as if we were playing 4 hours a day for 365 days a year. The figure represents the cost of €/year in electricity, having an assumed fixed rate of €0.15/kWh.

Current prices and relative performance
