Minaret. The minaret or minaret is the name by which the towers of mosques are known.
Both names come from the Arabic منار minār or manār, the first directly with the addition of the Arabic article al- and the second from the French minaret, taken from the Turkish, minare, which in turn takes it from the Arabic.

Description
Its main task is to provide the muezzin or muezzin with the five daily calls to prayer. For this, it usually has a balcony that surrounds it at its highest part, from which the call to prayer was traditionally made by voice. Today, the muezzin has been frequently replaced by a megaphone.
The shape of the minarets varies according to the areas.
Mosques
In the Muslim East, mosques with more than one, usually two or four, and in a variable way, are common.

In the Maghreb , mosques usually have only one, square in plan.
They are characteristic in places of influence or take the slender circular section minarets, with a protruding balcony and a conical roof.
